IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Plant Sale” WIDTH=

This is going to be a short one. I have company and don't have a lot of time to be creative, but I'll hit the high spots for this past week anyway.

Last weekend started out to be a very busy one. It was the Garden Club's annual plant sale. Dave and I started out on Friday by going by one gardener's home and loading Dave's flatbed trailer with two loads of plants for the sale. Then we made a third run to another home and picked up another load of plants. After delivering them all to the place of the sale I helped organize the plants into various sections. It was a very tiring day.

On Saturday I had to be up to the plant sale by 8:30 in the morning and we opened the doors for business at 9:00 a.m. As usual, people were lined up to get into the place. I worked in the "holding area" this year and this is where people dropped their selected plants off so they could do more shopping. We had to keep track of the plants and boy were we busy. But we were glad to see so many people buying and at the end of the day we made almost $3500 from the sale. Also, we had way too many plants left over so Dave brought his flatbed trailer back up and hauled two loads over to the Alder Creek Farm where we have a place to store them all. By the time we got done cleaning up from the plant sale we were both tired and ended up going over to the Sand Dune Pub for a hamburger. What a day!!

After we dragged ourselves out of bed on Sunday, we drove into West Linn to celebrate birthdays and Mother's day with the family. Leslie's birthday was the 11th, Jaysa's the 12th and Jason's the 13th. We had a nice lunch and birthday cake and came back home later that afternoon. I received a couple of lovely plants for my garden, a fuchsia basket and an ivy geranium for Mother's Day. The traffic coming back from the coast was crowded as expected because it was such a beautiful day. We counted over 75 cars in one stream of traffic! It was like just get in line and follow the car in front of you. I am sure glad we were headed the other way.

The rest of the week has been pretty quiet, and now that the plant sale is over I have a couple of days opened for my own yard work. The weather has been sunny most of the time but I haven't planted my vegetable garden yet but did manage to get the flower pots filled.

Bobbie's Buddies

Our dear friend Bobbie arrived with her friend Danielle for a short visit on Tuesday and spent most of the week visiting with us. She used to live here in Wheeler although she now lives in Willits, California. She likes to come back to visit every year or so. She took a bunch of her friends out to dinner just before she left on Friday. It is always fun to catch up on what she is doing in her life.

This weekend we are going to have the annual clean-up in Wheeler where everyone brings their trash and yard debris, so we will be helping with that. Maybe we will take in a play that the Riverbend players are doing on Saturday night and if the weather holds, we are having a few friends over Sunday evening for the Solar Eclipse party.
