IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!
Another Christmas is over along with all the festivities that go with it. We had a great time with our family and enjoyed all the good food and drink. I will take down the decorations when I get home. Now, it is time to go back to our usual routines and diets.
After having clear skies and sunshine for most of the month of December, Mother Nature decided to give us a gift of stormy weather for Christmas. We have had high winds and rain ever since. I guess we are back to our typical winter weather around here. On Christmas morning we got up early, packed our bags and headed into Silverton to have brunch with our kids and open presents. Jason fixed a huge brunch for us and we ate more than we should have. Then later in the day, we went with Leslie and Jason to the home of a friend of his mother where Jason's brother and sister were having a get-together with their families. Since we know most of them, we didn't feel totally out of place. We ate more.
We were planning on spending the whole week in town as Dave had three Blazer broadcasts in four nights this week and I was to babysit my three youngest granddaughters in West Linn all week. The two older girls were at winter camp during the day so I just had to take them in the mornings and pick them up later in the afternoon while I entertained - or should I say - I was entertained by my youngest granddaughter who is almost four. Jordyn is very easy care for. She entertains herself much of the time and is content to hang around with her grandma reading, doing puzzles and things like that. We've had a good week.
I did get a chance to get some errands done on Monday while I was in town. Lara had the day off so my babysitting duties didn't officially begin until Tuesday. I dropped Dave off at the Rose Garden for the game and I did some shopping and visited with my older sister. I picked up a few things on sale but ended up taking most of the stuff back as I didn't like it after I got home. I don't know if it was worth fighting all the crowds for what I got, but I can't resist a sale. Dave even got in the shopping mood. He finally broke down and got a new smart phone. His old cell phone was really something out of the dark ages and with this new "4-G Rezound" he should be able to do more things. However, for right now, he's about as frustrated with the phone as I was a couple of weeks ago with the Kindle. Another day or so of practice though and he should be getting the hang of it.
Speaking of the Kindle, we had dinner with our friends (and shirt-tail relatives) Kay and daughter Terri on Wednesday night. Terri made us this lovely pork chop dinner and then afterwards she gave me a quick lesson on my Kindle. I am slowly finding my way around that thing and have managed to read a couple of books, download some games and videos, and read my Facebook, but it has really been a challenge for this old gal. She also showed me how to set up my email too. Thank you so much Terri.
Depending on the weather, we will either head for home this evening or stay another day and go home on Saturday. The weatherman has promised another storm to be rolling in with more high winds and rain. He is also predicting 3"- 6" of snow in the passes of the Coast Range which we have to cross. But after being away all week from home, I am getting anxious to get back.
No special plans for New Years - will probably be in bed before the clock strikes twelve but Happy New Year to everyone!!
