IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Wreath

Fifteen more shopping days before Christmas! My Christmas shopping is all done since I am only buying for the granddaughters this year. We dragged all the Christmas decorations down from the attic the other day, put on some music to get into the festive holiday and set up the little tree in the kitchen and am calling it good. I also put up lights on the wreath that I got from my granddaughter Ashtin and hung it outside. I made some candy to give as gifts and I don't know if I will get around to the cookies. I end up eating most of them anyway and I don't need them.

We had our Christmas potluck for all the volunteers on Saturday night up at City Hall. There was a large turnout of about 45 people with lots of variety of food to eat. I always end up eating way too much food at potlucks because I have to try all the dishes. I waddled home wishing I had not eaten so much. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and it was nice to be recognized for our volunteerism.

The weather has been cold and clear. In fact, we haven't seen any rain for a couple of weeks. Dave and I got out on Tuesday afternoon and helped put up some Christmas lights on the trees in Waterfront Park but had to come back the next day to finish up the job because we got so cold. Luckily, the sun was a little warmer on Wednesday and felt like being outside for awhile. The park looks great with lights on the fir tree and around the train station. The lights on the poles were put up on Monday so our little town looks real festive for the holiday season. This weekend we are having Santa come and visit us.

Thursday night was my Master Gardener's award banquet so we attended that. I had been scheduled for surgery on Wednesday, but had no idea how I would feel on Thursday so I postponed the surgery for a week. I worked hard all year to get that Master Gardener's certificate and there was no way I was going to miss that banquet! I had to give a little appreciation speech thanking everyone who helped our class all year long. I am the class representative and we wanted to give our thanks to a couple of people who had done such a great job in making our class time worthwhile. I gave a little presentation and gift certificates to a couple of the leaders of the group. We had a large turnout and the dinner was wonderful.

Our weekend plans are for the two of us to head into town tonight as Dave has to help with the ESPN3 telecast of the state high school football championship game on Saturday. He has to be in town early on Saturday morning to set up and because the roads have been a little icy in the mornings, we decided to go in the night before. I will drop him off at the stadium as there is no place for him to park and then pick him up after he is done. That will give me time to do some shopping and spend some time with the grandkids. We will come back home Saturday night as we have plans to have dinner with friends on Sunday afternoon.

Next week will be another trip into town. Dave has a doctor's appointment on Tuesday and I have to meet with the surgical nurse before my surgery. We'll spend Tuesday night in town because I'm first in line at the hospital very early Wednesday morning. If all goes well with the surgery, I will be on my way back home on Wednesday afternoon.
