IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!
I started out the week going back to my water aerobics classes. The instructor has changed our routine around this time. Instead of waiting until the end of the class to do our strength exercises, she has started the class with them. She maintains that we burn more calories that way, but I think it is because most of us (including me) leave the class early when she starts with the strength training portion. I had a bad right arm for a long time and lifting weights was the last thing I wanted to do. It took a long time for my arm to heal so the strength exercises don't seem to bother me anymore. As always, the classes start out very crowded, but by mid-week most of the "weaklings" have given up and that leaves the old timers more room. It gets a little cramped with 20 or so women fighting for a spot in the water!
I have been trying to get my paint project (deck) done before the weather changes. Since we had quite a bit of rain over last weekend, Dave put up a tarp over the exposed part of the deck so that it would stay halfway dry. I say halfway dry, because the tarp leaked a bit but I managed to round up some buckets to catch most of the drips. The paint project was put on hold until Tuesday to give the deck time to dry out after the rain.
Tuesday was a crazy day. Dave was gone all day with play rehearsal and getting the oil changed in his car. I had the carpet cleaner scheduled to arrive around noon so I was on my own for moving as much of the furniture as I could out of the living and dining rooms before he got there. After the carpet cleaner was done, it took another eight hours before we could walk on the carpets, so we spent most of our lives hanging out in the kitchen and bedrooms finding our way around stuff piled in those two rooms. Anyway, while the carpet was drying, I was finishing up painting the last of the deck. Lucky for me that we had decent weather that day as I had all the doors opened to help dry the carpets and there was a light breeze outside to help dry the paint. The painting is done and I am going to burn my paint clothes! (as soon as they lift the burn ban that is).
We had to run into Tillamook on Thursday as Dave FINALLY met with the local veteran's affairs representative to see if he qualifies for VA benefits. I say "finally", because this is something he should have done years ago. The guy spent over an hour interviewing Dave and filling out all the paperwork involved in claims for both Agent Orange and asbestos exposure. You know with the government, there is a LOT of paperwork. The process will take about 9 months before we know if he qualifies. We're hoping he does so he can be eligible for medical treatment through the VA - allowing us to drop his hospitalization and prescription insurance. Financially, that would be a big help. After we finished up at the veteran's office, I also had a doctor's appointment in Tillamook. I have had a very weepy right eye and I think it is an allergy. I have been treating it myself and it was feeling pretty good by the time I made it to the doctor's office. Anyway, he agreed with my diagnosis and gave me a prescription for my eyes.
We have a busy weekend planned. We are having some steamboat friends, Norm and Jeannette Davis from Astoria over for dinner tonight and then we have been invited to a BBQ for our friend's son's 3rd birthday on Saturday afternoon.
My sister Jeanne is flying into Portland from Arizona on Sunday on her way to Seattle for the week and we are meeting her and her husband Bob for lunch before they head north. I am also picking up my other sister, Judy who will also join us for lunch.
No pictures this week. We have been so busy with projects that we couldn't take the time to get any pictures, but I'm sure that with all that's going on in the next few days, I'll have some next week.
