IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Another month gone - time sure seems to fly by.

This is the weirdest spring weather I have ever seen! It has not been uncommon to have sun one minute, hail the next and pouring down rain a few minutes later. Forget about trying to get any yard work done or plant any garden or flowers! It is darn right depressing. Dave drove into town yesterday and drove through a blizzard at the summit. It wasn't sticking, but still - May Day is Sunday!! Enough of the cold weather, already!

Jadyn

Dewey Girls

I can count one nice day this week and that was last Saturday when I headed into town to spend the Easter holiday with my daughter Lara and her family. I think the weather hit 70 degrees and as I was driving into town, I must have passed at one time 57 cars heading the opposite direction for the coast. Everyone wanted to get away for the weekend. We had a real nice Easter, starting out by heading to church to listen to Jadyn sing in the children's choir. After the service, we watched the girls hunt for Easter eggs. Oh, all the stuff the Easter bunny brought sure put Santa Claus to shame! After stuffing ourselves full of ham dinner, Dave and I headed for home, each in separate cars as Dave came in on Thursday for a couple of playoff games and I waited until Saturday. On the way home, I stopped at the store to buy a few groceries so Dave beat me home. He greeted me at the door by announcing that he had spilled his coffee cup on the bed (by accident) and so I spent most of the evening washing all our bedding so it didn't smell like a Starbucks! Fun.

I took the Jeep into the repair shop to get the damage repaired on the fender from the accident a couple of weeks ago. The repair shop gave me a rental to use which was a little red Ford Taurus. Cute car but it took me a little getting used to. Especially getting it started. Fortunately, my car was ready by Wednesday so I only had to drive the rental for a couple of days and then just back and forth to the swimming pool for my aerobics class.

We had our Garden club meeting on Tuesday and we mostly talked about the upcoming plant sale on Mother's Day weekend. I haven't been too involved this year because of my Master Gardeners activities but plan on helping out as much as I can. It is hard to believe that it is only a week before the sale. I did contribute a lot of plants from my yard for the sale however.

Elk

The herd of elk has been "camping" out on the island in the bay for most of the week. I think it must be about calving time and there is plenty to eat as the grass is nice and tender on the island. They are such magnificent animals and it always fun to watch them graze about. Speaking of animals, I counted three squirrels and four chipmunks at the feeders. The word must have gotten out.

I woke up on Thursday morning with a sore throat and aches and pains. I sure hope I don't come down with a cold. I want to attend the local Disaster Fair on Saturday and signed up for a class on making cloches at the Extension office and I don't want to be sick for that.

Dave drove into Portland for another Blazer broadcast on Thursday. The Blazers lost and so now the season is over. In a way, it'll be nice to not have to drive hundreds of miles back and forth each month, but we're sure going to miss the income.
