IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

I have been on the road so much this week; I am not sure what day it is!! Oh, I remember, it's Friday!!

Not a lot happened last weekend. We did go to that play at the Coaster Theater and it was every bit a good as promised. We used to belong to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and drove to Ashland twice a year to see the plays, just because we enjoy good theater. When we dropped our membership last year, we promised ourselves that we would continue to find plays to attend and we have tried to do that. We are really fortunate that they have such a good company in Cannon Beach, because we can attend several times a year and see very good performances for a fraction of the cost of Ashland!

Files

Sunday, we tackled Dave's filing. He has a basket on the desk labeled "To be Filed" and after a couple of years, it gets real full. I guess he expects the "File Fairy" to come along and do it for him. Doesn't happen! Anyway, I relented on Sunday and offered to help him get the job done. It required getting everything from the basket out into separate piles on the office floor. It doesn't look like much, but it took a couple of hours! It was a "good news - bad news" kind of project. We got stuff filed that needed to be put away, and got a lot of other documents shredded. That's where the bad news comes in - we burned up another shredder! That's the second one in three years! So - the filing is done, and we now own yet another new shredder!

We took off on Monday after breakfast and headed into West Linn for a few days. We decided to go in a day ahead of time as Dave had his first Blazer preseason broadcast on Tuesday night and he was a little antsy about getting everything set up and running for the first time in several months. It's always hectic for the first broadcast of the season, and especially when he heard that the control room at the Rose Garden had been completely rebuilt. There were no problems relating to the new equipment although he did have a little stress just before airtime when a recorder wouldn't work and the interview mic wasn't wired in right. I know he was just a little stressed right then because that's when I decided to call him. Bad timing!

After I dropped Dave off at the RG, I worked on my "to-do" list that I brought along. I was sent on an errand for Lara to pick up some overnight diapers for Jordan for their trip to Disneyland. Jordan is completely potty-trained and she even stays dry during the night, but Lara didn't want any "accidents" while on their vacation. Anyway, I found the "diaper" section at Target and I am standing there gazing at rows and rows of various kinds of disposable diapers. They have "Cruisers", "Pull-Ups" "Swaddlers" and even "Swim" disposals each for a boy or girl. Back in my time, I used the kind of diapers I had to wash, so this was all new to me. Even though Lara had told me what kind to get, I was overwhelmed with the selection. I finally had to ask this mother who was standing beside me what kind to get and hopefully I came back home with the right kind.

Deweys

Tuesday afternoon (after quickly getting the suitcases stuffed into the car before the girls got home from school), we all crammed in their car and headed for the airport. The girls had no idea that they were going on a plane trip to Disneyland. They thought that they were taking Grandma to the airport so she could go visit her sister in Phoenix. When we finally arrived at the airport (the freeway traffic was terrible), we all got out of the car at the unloading area and Lara announced that Grandma wasn't going anywhere but that they were all going on a plane trip to Disneyland. You should have heard the squeals of excitement. They are spending four days down in L.A. and I am sure they are having a great time! I told them to give Mickey a big hug for me!

Dave and I spent all day Wednesday in town running a few more errands. We had to stay in town until that evening as Dave's "brother" Dan's wife had passed away from lung cancer and we wanted to attend the funeral that evening. Dan and Dave obviously aren't brothers, but have been best friends since they were teenagers and think of themselves as brothers, so I guess they are. Anyway, it was a nice memorial and we got to see Dan's kids - our godchildren - Heather and John. Even though we're their godparents, I hadn't seen them in years and they both have changed quite a bit. I guess growing into adulthood will do that! Anyway, after the service and reception, we headed back down to Wheeler and got home around 11:00 p.m. We came home that night instead of the next morning, as I had a meeting first thing on Thursday. I also have to wash some clothes so we can get packed again as we are leaving this evening for another road trip.

We will spend Friday night with our friends, Ed and Diane in Dexter, and then Saturday afternoon, drive over to Redmond to attend the wedding of George and Margie. After the wedding reception, we are heading right back to West Linn because we have to pick up the kids at the airport at 9:30 Sunday morning. So it's another weekend behind the wheel of the car. Oh, and we just heard that it may snow in the Cascades this weekend! Couldn't it have waited two more days?
