IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Trust me, this journal entry will not be as long as last week.

After getting home from our Alaska cruise, it has been "me-back-to-reality". I had tons of laundry to do, a house to clean, and bills to pay. After a week of being pampered by the service aboard the Princess ship during which they made me feel like a princess - believe me - I keep looking around for Songkran, our steward aboard the ship to pour my coffee, make my bed, and wait on me hand and foot. I guess he decided not to follow us home, darn!

We got back to Wheeler Saturday afternoon and after unpacking, we went out to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary. Dave had made reservations at one of our favorite places in Manzanita, the Terra Cotta Cafe, and we enjoyed a delicious meal. On Sunday, we went out for breakfast at our other favorite place, because there wasn't much to eat in the house. I had to stop and buy some milk on the way home. I did fix dinner that night so I haven't forgotten how to do that!

Most of this week was catching up and attending meetings. Dave had a couple of rehearsals because he is in the next production the Reader's Theater, which is called "Radio Daze". He plays an announcer and is perfect for the part. They rehearse twice a week until they perform the play the end of October. I had a dentist appointment to get my teeth cleaned on Tuesday, so that meant a drive to Hillsboro and back. While I was out and about, I stopped at the grocery store to stock up on some food. I also had a meeting on Wednesday with the Emergency Preparedness Committee. We meet every three months and try to keep everyone in our neighborhood informed of new issues. Since the bad weather will be here before you know it, it is always a good thing to be prepared. Thursday, Dave had a workshop with the City Council and today, I'll be working the visitor's information desk at the Chamber of Commerce while Dave has another rehearsal.

We also had to make a run to Warrenton to have Dave's Suburban repaired. The passenger airbag light kept coming on and off and it was driving us crazy. As it turned out, there was corrosion in the system and some of the terminals on the sending unit had to be replaced. It cost us over $300 to get that fixed. That was bad enough, but we were without the second car for a day and a half while it was in the shop. It's amazing how many times we think we need to both be out driving someplace at the same time. Also, it was comical to watch Dave grab his keys, walk out the door to where his car is usually parked, and then sheepishly walk back in a few seconds later and pick up the Jeep keys. Old habits die hard! Not only did we lose the car for over a day, since it's a one hour trip up there, we also lost a half day in driving time just delivering the car and then going to pick it up. That the price we pay for living in the boonies!

Cartoon

This cartoon turned out to be very timely. It was in today's paper. This weekend is my high school's 50th class reunion and so Dave and I will be attending that. It is in Hillsboro and so we will just spend the weekend in town rather than driving back and forth. It should be fun and I am anxious to see some of my old classmates. I am sure we have all changed.
