IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!
We got up bright and early last Saturday and drove to Keiser. Two of our granddaughters, Ashtin and Paige were playing soccer and we wanted to watch their games. Of course it was pouring down rain when we left Wheeler so we decided to pack our rain gear. It was a good idea because when we arrived in time for the soccer games, it was threatening to rain but it hadn't started yet. About half way through Ashtin's game the sky got really dark, some thunder was heard in the distance and then it opened up and just drenched us. I felt so sorry for the girls out on the field. After Ashtin's game, we stayed to watch Paige play. She just loves soccer and is out there in the pouring rain having a great old time. She ended up scoring 5 goals and having 2 assists and all of her team members are a year older than she is.
We spent the weekend in West Linn as Dave had a Blazer game on Sunday night and we helped Lara celebrate her birthday. Leslie's family came up so we had pizza and birthday cake! And yes, she is covering the numbers on the cake! It looks like Jaysa was really enjoying the cake too! Later that afternoon I took Dave over to the Rose Garden and then did a little shopping and had a pedicure. It was an early game so I picked him up afterwards and we headed for home. We pulled into Wheeler around 11:00 and by the time we unpacked it was 11:30 when we finally got to bed. Although it's no fun, the early games make it easier to drive home after we're done. We usually stay in town after the 7:00 games because that would put us back at the coast after midnight. It's easier to drive back to West Linn for the night and come home the next morning.
I was all ready to head out for my water aerobics class on Monday morning when I received a phone call telling me that the pool was closed because the pump burned up. So no water aerobics classes this week. That didn't stop me though. I worked out on the treadmill and the Wii Fit instead. I do have to say I'm enjoying that Wii. I've gone through all of the yoga, fitness, balance and agility exercises to the point where I'm starting to record a better time each outing. I feel better with all the exercise and I think it's beginning to pay off. I'm still attending my "Smart Choices" nutrition classes in Seaside each Monday night, and I've had fun experimenting with some of the ideas the nutritionist has given us.
We headed back into Portland on Tuesday as Dave had another broadcast that night and I had a couple of doctor appointments on Wednesday. I am going in for some minor surgery in a couple of weeks and there were some tests that the doctor needed to do. After I got all hooked up to this computer for the test and had an EKG and some blood drawn, it was off to the dentist for a filling. What a day, I felt like I had been poked and prodded all day long! After a quick stop at Costco, we headed for home.
The Riverbend Players will be having their first performance tonight, so Dave has been going to rehearsals for that. The performance is a series of four one-act plays and he is in one of the acts. As of yesterday, his co-star has the flu and hopefully will be able to perform tonight. Otherwise there is a backup who is studying the script today, trying to get ready in case she's needed. I sure hope he doesn't come down with anything.
Speaking of the flu, Lara called last night to tell me Jadyn has the Swine Flu. She's been feeling bad ever since we saw them on Tuesday and she got the diagnosis yesterday. Her sister Jaysa isn't feeling real good right now either. They got their H1N1 shots, but those need a couple of weeks to "take" before they become fully effective and she came down with the flu before that time was up. We'll see what happens. We've all certainly been exposed because we spent last weekend as well as Tuesday at their place.
I got outside yesterday to get the rest of the delayed yard work done. I still had a lot of debris from last week's windstorm to clean up. I also wanted to mow the lawn one more time before it started to rain. I made it just in the nick of time too. The first drops started falling as I was putting the lawn mower away! There are still two boats that need to be put away for the winter, brass to polish and the deck table needs to be stored. I am holding off on my flower baskets until we are threatened with some frost. Hopefully that won't be for a while.
