IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!
After two weeks, I finally am feeling halfway human after having this virus that has been going around. It sure feels good to be normal again, now if it would only stop raining so I can get out in the yard and get caught up on a few projects.
Last Saturday was our town clean up around here and since the Parks Committee was in charge, Dave and I showed up and helped sort, haul and collect all kinds of garbage. It was pouring down rain most of the day and thank goodness, some one loaned us a canopy to stand under so we could keep dry between downpours. When we weren't collecting stuff, some of the committee members spruced up the place around city hall. Not only did we end up with a nicer looking city hall but two very large dumpsters full of everything from yard debris to old couches and mattresses. We also sent a huge trailer load of old washing machines, refrigerators, and even a motorcycle to the metals farm. What was left was hauled off to Cart'm for recycle. It was a huge success and we figured we had over 2,000 pounds of garbage. On Sunday, we had a town hall meeting to update the citizens on what has been happening in their fair city. As usual, there wasn't a large turnout (about 40 people) but at least we are trying to keep the communication open between the city council and the townspeople.
Monday, I went to my water aerobics class only to discover that our instructor had taken off for Mexico for a couple of weeks. We had a substitute instructor who is a real taskmaster and doesn't let anyone get away with anything! She worked us pretty hard and I discovered muscles that I hadn't used for awhile! I will be glad when our regular instructor is back! I just hope she doesn't bring anything back from Mexico. I'm tired of being sick!
Tuesday, I finally decided that I needed to get some errands done and so I headed into Tillamook. Because I have been putting this off, I had about five stops to make and didn't get back home until late afternoon. Dave had his own agenda for the day, so we didn't see each other until evening.
We have had quite the storms this week with high winds (40 mile gusts) and heavy downpours lasting well into the night each night. We battened down the hatches and watched Mother Nature in all her fury. It has been raining most of the week and so there was nothing we could do. Will spring ever really get here? I want to plant flowers and my garden soooo bad.
The rest of the week the garden club has been preparing for our big plant sale on Saturday. We got the last of the flower baskets done and spent Thursday afternoon setting up the Masonic Hall in Wheeler where it will be held. Thursday, we set everything up inside the building, and set up tents for the overflow on the outside. Hopefully, the tents will protect us from the sun and not the rain! Today we will take all the plants to the Hall and then go to bed early tonight so we will be ready for the sale on Saturday. It's only four hours long, but it's a very intense four hours!
This weekend we have the big birthday celebrations. We'll go into town to meet up with the family on Sunday. We'll have Mother's Day on Sunday, followed by Leslie's birthday on Monday, Jaysa's on Tuesday and Jason's on Wednesday. We'll celebrate everything on Sunday and be back home by Sunday night
All you Mothers out there, have a great day!
