IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

It's been quite a week, trying to get caught up at home with laundry and paying bills after being gone for about a month.

The birthday girls We stayed in town to celebrate our two granddaughter's birthdays which they had while we were away on vacation. Jadyn turned six on April 3rd and Paige turned 7 on April 9th so we had some catching up to do. We also threw in Easter while we were at it. There was so much going on that it was hard to keep track.

First thing on Saturday morning, we woke up to a dark house. We had lost all power in the house along with all of the neighbors. After a couple of hours, a utility truck showed up and we watched the worker climb the pole and toss a dead squirrel from the wire. Apparently, the squirrel fried himself when he touched the wrong set of wires. We see them all the time traveling down the wires from pole to pole and wondered how they did that without getting shocked. Now we know they don't.

Later that morning, Lara and Greg took their three girls on the annual Easter Egg Hunt and they scored big. Both Jaysa and Jadyn won big chocolate Easter Bunnies and Jaysa won the grand prize of a basket of assorted candies. That will put them on a sugar high for quite some time. After Leslie and Jason watched their girls play softball, they later joined us for a nice ham dinner and birthday celebrations. After all the festivities, Dave and I finally headed for home sweet home.

Awed by Elmo I had been watching this Elmo doll that I wanted to get my youngest granddaughter, Jordyn for a gift and it finally went on sale so I decided to splurge and buy it for her. It is really cute and when you turn it on, it does various gyrations and sings. One of the things that caught my eye was that it blows kisses and this is something that Jordyn can relate to. Anyway, I brought Elmo home in anticipation of Jordyn just loving it and as it turned out, she was terrified of the darned thing! We finally got her to at least look at it and then gradually turned it on so she could see it go through all its movements. Now that she is used to it, I think she is beginning to enjoy it. The older kids have a lot of fun with it so it really wasn't a waste of money.

It was raining and the wind was blowing up a storm by the time we got up on Sunday, but I had too much to do to care. I did about four loads of laundry and sorted through a month's accumulation of mail. I also got caught up on some of my favorite TV shows that had been recorded. Now, just when I think I was all set, we get a desperate phone call from Lara who needed me to baby sit for her for the week because her babysitter's mother had died suddenly. So we packed our bags once more and the following morning headed into town again. Dave was planning on going into town anyway, as he had a couple of Blazer games, but it was my intention to stay home and unwind a bit. As it turns out, the Blazers will start the playoffs on Saturday, so it will be Sunday before we attempt another try for home.

Don't get me wrong, I love babysitting for my grandchildren and we have a great time together, I am just tried of living out of a suitcase.

We will head home once more on Sunday and hopefully I will be able to stick around there for awhile.
