IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!
Happy Friday the 13th, I hope you all have a lucky day.
We spent last weekend in town because of the Blazer games and got together with our friends, Stan and Terrie who will be going on part of our vacation with us. They'll join us on the second half of the trip when we stay in a condo that they have access to. What started out as a "free condo" for a couple of weeks turned out to be a little more expensive than we had planned - what with a rental car, a night in Las Vegas and a motel for a side trip to Utah - but it should be fun just the same. So, Friday night, we got on the computer and figured out our itinerary and so forth. I am excited about going on this trip because I have never been to either Las Vegas or the canyons of Utah.
While we were at Stan and Terrie's, they introduced us to their Wii computer games. We golfed and bowled and worked out on their fitness program. I know this has been all the rage for a couple of years, but we hadn't had much of an interest until now. I think that because we live on the coast where there aren't a lot of leisure activities, that we would probably use it quite a bit, especially in the winter. It was a lot of fun and we decided that it might be our next investment. However, I have been very sore all week, I think I pulled a muscle while I was bowling!! It just goes to show you how much I thought I was in shape with all the exercise I get and I found some muscles that I don't use very often.
Speaking of exercise, when we got back to Wheeler we found out the electrical system had burned up the pump at the pool where I exercise, so the pool has been closed all week. The pump and boiler are very, very old and they have replaced about every part possible on them. It will take about a week or so to get it repaired, so I didn't get to do any water aerobics as planned this week.
We arrived back in Wheeler on Sunday in time to catch the Riverbend Players latest performance "The Match Maker", which was well done. Dave usually is involved with the reader's theater, but because of his schedule this time, he decided it was too much. They are going to put on a mystery in June and he might try out for a part in that.
By the time this entry is posted, I'll be in sunny Arizona. With all the cold and chilly weather we have had lately, I am really looking forward to some heat. It has been in the high 70's and low 80's. I left on Thursday and won't be back for about a month. I will be spending a couple of weeks with my sister, Jeanne who lives in Phoenix and then my girlfriend, Terrie is flying down the end of this month and we are renting a car and taking the 6-hour drive to Las Vegas where we will catch up with our husbands. Dave will be flying to Phoenix tomorrow (Saturday) and he will spend a week catching some rays while the Blazers are playing on the road. He has to be back the end of the month for a few more broadcasts and then he and Terrie's husband, Stan will fly to Las Vegas where Terrie and I will meet up with them. After a night on the town, we are driving to Mesquite, Nevada where we will stay in the condo while we make side trips to Bryce and Zion National Park and then over to Moab, Utah to see the Canyonlands and The Arches. Even though Dave will be going back and forth, all in all, we will be gone for about a month, returning on April 9th.
So with that said, I have spent much of the week packing my suitcase - trying to plan for various weather scenarios and hiking conditions that we will encounter on our trip. I will post pictures of our activities while I am gone.
One last note, I had a terrible time getting to Phoenix. In fact, I had a terrible time getting out of Portland. This is one of those airline traveler horror stories and I'll tell you all about it next week.
