IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!
It has been another busy week around these parts.
After coming home from our Ashland trip on Friday, we turned around and left again on Saturday to spend the weekend in Portland. Lara had asked us a while back to babysit with the girls on Saturday night and I never turn down the opportunity to see the grandbabies. Anyway, they had a dinner to go to and so Dave and I stayed with the girls. They were angels for us and were all tucked in their beds by the time Lara and Greg got back home later that evening.
Dave had another Blazer broadcast on Sunday, so I dropped him off at the Rose Garden and spent the afternoon going to the Garden and Patio Show up the street at the Convention Center. I tried to pace myself and not get too tired, as I had developed shin splints last week from all the walking I had done. I got some good ideas but I think the Home and Garden Show the week before at the Expo Center was a lot bigger and better. Afterward, I went to the game, watched the first half of the game in the studio and the second half in the arena. I have forgotten how noisy it can get in there! After the game, Dave and I headed for home in the rain and fog again. We got home around 10 PM.
The rest of the week has been filled with reading with kids at the grade school, attending meetings, and trying to get our to-do list done before we leave for vacation a week from now. Dave had to drive to St. Helens on Tuesday to attend a city budget training session. That was an all-day thing and I stayed home. On Wednesday, Dave turned around and headed back into town for another Blazer game and then drove back home that night because he had a city council workshop at 8:00 the next morning! He has felt like he has been living in the car for the past week!
We will be heading back into town again today. Dave has a doctor's appointment about his knees. They don't seem to be getting better. After that, we are getting together with the friends that we will be traveling with on vacation and we kind of want to get our schedules worked out. We will also be spending the night with them and on Saturday it is back into the Rose Garden for yet another game. We will spend the night with Lara and Greg and then head back home on Sunday.
It is beginning to look like spring, although it doesn't feel like it. Even when the sun comes out, there is still a chilly wind. I managed to get out in the yard between the showers and pulled a few weeds. I also planted my snow peas and sweet peas this week. I know that by the time I get back from vacation on April 11th, that the weeds will have taken over and I will be way behind in my yard work. Oh well! I always like this time of year, things still look pretty dead in the yard from winter, but if you look real close you can see new life beginning. The daffodils and tulips are pushing through the earth and there are tiny buds on the trees. There is hope and life goes on.
I may have to post this journal early next week. I'm flying to Phoenix on Thursday, and Dave won't follow me down there until Saturday. So it can either be posted a day early or two days late. I'm thinking it will be a day early.
