IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!
Once again this week, we're just going to have to pretend it's Friday. I'm posting early again because we'll be busy in Portland when the usual posting time comes.
The week started out by us picking up my sister Jeanne at the airport. She decided that it was too hot in Phoenix and she wanted a little rain. Well we were sure able to provide some of that! It has been raining since she got here! You have to be careful what you ask for.
After spending Friday night in town, we brought Jeanne down to the coast where it has managed to rain most of the week. The drive down was full of the colors of fall and she really enjoyed that. It has been a pretty wild week though. One night we had such a wind and rainstorm it woke me up. Despite the weather, we had a great visit and hopefully she got a little R and R while here.
We also took in some local entertainment. Jeanne and I went to see the play Saturday night "A Bad Year for Tomatoes" that Dave was directing. It was really a cute play and we enjoyed it very much.
It's been some week with all the celebrations going on!
The first was the cast party that was held at our place after the final performance of the play on Sunday. We had about 14 people crowded into our house and it turned out to be a great affair. Dave was given his favorite bottle of Scotch from the cast in appreciation for his efforts and everyone sat around a talked about what a success the play was. They are already planning their next play, which will be performed this spring.
On Tuesday night, we had invited Donna and Des over for dinner to help celebrate Donna's birthday. I fixed a steak dinner for everyone and then we sat around and watched the election results. We are sure glad that is over as we are all about campaigned out for a while.
We won!! Dave was elected to the Wheeler City Council on Tuesday. We are all very proud of him. He came in second out of six candidates running for the four seats. I guess our little homemade campaign signs that we had placed out in front of the house helped.
Jeanne and I have been faithfully going to the pool each morning for our water aerobics class. We enjoyed doing that and have really felt better physically getting some exercise. There have been an average of 20 ladies each day who attend the class so it gets a little crowded at times and your personal space seems a little bit smaller each time in the pool. When we haven't been exercising, we have been going places. We went browsing in the antique stores one day and then drove into Seaside to the outlet mall another time.
We also had fun chasing away our resident raccoon that seems to be getting braver and braver each time. He sneaks up and before you know it he is hanging by one of the bird feeders just gorging himself. Dave gets out the pellet gun and fires a few rounds at him, but they just bounce off. I'm sure they sting, but he soon forgets the pain and is back again! I finally end up taking the feeders down completely. Jeanne is amazed at the size of the little robber and has reported the activity to her husband Bob. He has requested a couple of coonskin caps!
We went back into Portland on Thursday as Dave has a Blazer broadcast and Jeanne will be staying with her friend for a few days before she heads back to sunny Arizona on Sunday. It's been great having her here and I am looking forward to going to Arizona next March.
