IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!
Not much happening this week. As I mentioned last time, we went to my former employer's Christmas party at this fancy country club. First thing when we entered the room where the party was held, we were asked if we wanted something to drink. Dave likes to drink "good" scotch and all they were offering was "well" drinks for the party. So Dave ordered something fancy and the waiter tried to get him to sign for it in advance. About that time my ex-boss came over and told the waiter that that was okay and that he would pay the difference. We thought that was pretty nice of him since he will be unemployed beginning the first of the year! He didn't survive a transfer of ownership, but he has a "golden parachute" which will be handed to him as he leaves the company. Dave felt he could afford to buy one good scotch! Anyway, it was really fun to see some of my old office workers once again. Since the company has been bought out by another company, this will probably be the last time we will all get together and so I wanted to be sure to make it. A lot of people didn't come and I am sorry that I missed seeing them. We had our picture taken just before we left just to prove the point that Dave and I really know how to get all dressed up when we have to.
Saturday, after we got back home, I started coming down with a bad cold. I haven't felt like doing much all week and even missed going to another holiday party that night. I even had to beg out of working a Blazer game on Monday as I still felt terrible and didn't want to contaminate any more people with whatever this crud is that I have. Finally by Wednesday, I got some of my energy back to work a game that night, but I am still sneezing, coughing and blowing my nose. I hope I don't give this "bug" to Dave and can begin to feel better by Christmas.
We had another windstorm on Wednesday, the day we left for town. I was awakened at 2:00 AM with familiar noises of rain and gusting wind. We really haven't dug ourselves out of the last windstorm mess and by morning the wind had once again taken out the fence that I had propped up. With the ground being so saturated with water, I was afraid more trees would be down but by morning everything was still standing and the power was still on.
We are celebrating our Christmas Saturday with our family as we have a Blazer game on Christmas day. We are having a brunch and opening our presents a little early. The kids always like to spend Christmas day at home with their families and besides it is in the middle of the week and everyone has to go to work the next day.
I hope by now everyone is ready for Christmas and can spend some time relaxing and don't have to fight the malls for any last minute shopping. From both of us to all of you, our very best wishes for the holiday season.
