IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Costco Room Actually it isn't Friday, it's Wednesday but the webmaster is going to be gone for several days starting on Thursday and so if I am going to post anything this week, it had better be before he leaves.

I just looked back and realized that this journal is now three years old! That's hard to believe. In a way, it seems like I haven't been writing it that long, and in another way, a lot has happened since it all began. I started it when I retired from Tektronix and we were getting ready to move down here. In those three years, we lost Dave's mom, moved mine into a nicer care facility and gained another granddaughter. We also became a part of this community, and we're no longer looked at as "newcomers". So, it's been three long years, and only three years! It is kind of funny to look back and see when I thought I was busy working for a living! Little did I know! We're busier than we ever were when we worked! Writing once a week is good mental exercise for me, and I know there's a small but loyal group of readers, so, here's to at least three more years!

Not much happening around here this short week. I was a racer's widow all last weekend as Dave left on Friday to broadcast the Rose Cup races that were held all weekend. He will be leaving again on Thursday for the ChampCar races, so I will be left alone once again.

I managed to get a lot done around the house over the weekend. I did a little yard work, washed the windows inside and out and cleaned the house. This week, it has been raining off and on so I was restricted to being inside which about drives me nuts. In between showers I ventured outside and puttered around the yard. I had to replant my carrots in the garden as the chipmunk has been using the space to plant a few seeds of his own. He managed to dig up half my carrot crop and I have had bunches of sunflower seeds sprouting up all over the place!

Dave got home late Sunday evening from the races and spent the next couple of days glued to the computer. He is the editor of the Northwest Steam Society newsletter and the deadline for this issue is this week. After he got that completed, he went back to working on the supply room. We got the vinyl on the floor last week and now he is putting all the trim on the windows, doors and floor. We also got the HEAVY refrigerator and freezer units moved into that room. It was a tight squeeze, but we got them in! I'm glad that part of the project is done! Dave has the water shut off while trying to fix a leak in the line for the new water heater. As I sit here typing this, I'm hearing some "plumber's comments" from that area, so I'm guessing things aren't going well on the leak repair! We are hoping to get this room done and everything moved in soon, as the kids and grandkids will be coming down the weekend before the 4th of July. All we have been hearing about is "sleeping in the bunkbeds at Grandad and Grandma's house", so we'd better get it done!

We have another work party scheduled for the waterfront park project on Thursday. Also, I hope to make it to the local farmer's market this weekend and I have a tea to attend with a friend on Sunday. Otherwise, it all depends on the weather as to what I can get accomplished outside and the prediction today was for rain. This doesn't surprise me, as it's Rose Festival time and it ALWAYS rains during Rose Festival!
