IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Birthday Kids It was another busy week around here. The Garden Club's plant sale was on Saturday morning and even before we opened, people were lined up at the door waiting to get in. We were shy by about $500 of the total we made last year, but still, $3000 in a few hours is not bad. Most of the money will go to local charities. I ended up buying a few things of my own too. Sometimes I think those of us in the club are our own best customers.

I only helped with the garden sale for about an hour then it was off to West Linn to the birthday party for Jaysa, Leslie and Jason. Lara had gotten an inflatable trampoline from a friend and the girls had a blast jumping on that. Of course, Paige tried to knock out her front tooth by landing on her face, but that was normal for Paige, our roughneck of the bunch. Jaysa was on her second party for the day but had managed to take a quick nap in between events, so she was in good spirits. After eating a Mexican dinner, everyone opened their presents, ate cake and called it a day. We spent the night at Lara's because I wanted to wish my mother a happy Mother's Day on Sunday. We also took some flowers up to Dave's mom's gravesite. After getting through our list of errands we headed back home.

Jaysa Our friend Stan Boyd, who was working on an electrical job for our other friends, Des and Donna Kahrs, stayed with us for a couple of days this week. The job was to wire the two new commercial storage units that Kahrs are building and it took most of three days to wire them. Dave had to go down and dig some ditches with the Kubota, so between the wiring and ditch digging, I didn't see much of him while Stan was here.

We had a masked bandit appear on our deck this week and he didn't even wait until dark! The cutest raccoon was feasting on the sunflower seeds that were left for the birds and he could care less if we were watching or not. It is just another amusement around here with the variety of wildlife that we have. We also have had our herd of elk grazing out on the island all week. The grass is up to their bellies and when they lay down you have to look real close for maybe a couple of ears popping up in the grass.

Rocky This week, the schedule called for getting the final coat of paint on the walls in the storage room. So I now have a light bluish-gray on two walls and "Devil's Pool" deep blue on the other two. It turned out great! We now have the door installed and the electrical switches and plugs in. I just have some various trim pieces to paint and in a couple of weeks the vinyl will be installed on the floors. We're getting there!

We attended a SMART ice cream social this week. It was put on by the students in appreciation for helping them with their reading all during the school year. It's a fun event, because the kids get to present us with homemade thank-you cards and then sit and talk with us while we all eat ice cream. I'm sure the ice cream is a bribe to get them to sit and talk with us, but still, it was a nice ending to our involvement with the school for this year.

Then there was more work on the Waterfront Park project on Thursday. The place is beginning to look good enough that we got our picture in both of the local newspapers this week! At least I was working when they snapped the picture! We planted most of the shrubs, trees and flowers so the place is beginning to really take shape. So, I am glad it is Friday for sure.

We have rain in the forecast, so I'm going to try to get out and work in the yard today. Hopefully, we can get a full day outside before the rain starts tonight.
