IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Gosh, I can't believe we are in the middle of March all ready! Time is going by sooo fast!

We stayed in town after our Blazer game on Saturday night. We had engineered a game on Thursday and decided to stick around for a couple of days. That gave me a chance to go over and see how my Mom was doing. She slept the whole time I was there and doubt if she even remembers me coming to visit. She spends a lot of time "napping" lately and I don't know if it is old age or the drugs that she is taking. It is probably a combination of both.

Sunday morning we went down to Leslie and Jason's place for brunch. Jason is such a good cook and he fixed this delicious egg casserole. Leslie wanted some advice on some of the plants that have started to spring up in her yard and where she plans on putting a garden this year. They were all excited about their trip to Hawaii this week. They left yesterday for 10-days. Actually, Jason has police training for 10 days and Leslie and the girls went along to enjoy the sun. The girls have never flown before and Jason is a "white knuckle" flyer, so Leslie should have had a great trip getting there! I'll bet Jason had a couple of drinks and he probably slept most of the way and I'm sure the girls did fine. I have a hard time imagining a big guy who sees more danger than the normal person because of his line of work and he is afraid of flying? Oh well. I remember taking our daughters to Hawaii when they were about that age. Dave was the play-by-play announcer for the Portland Beavers baseball team and we had the opportunity to fly over with him. We had a great time.

Painting We managed to drop a few bucks at Home Depot after we left Leslie and Jason's. We stopped to pick up all the pieces for the shelving in our storage room and also some special paint for the cement walls. We ended up with about 75 feet of shelving as well as all the brackets and supports to go with it. We could have probably just hacked together some kind of wood shelves and called it good, but we wanted something that would last and that looks good too. Sooo, we went with the premium stuff. We managed to get everything loaded and off we went with a lighter wallet. That stuff is expensive!

We took advantage of the nice weather on Monday and picked up all the branches and limbs that our sons-in-law, Greg and Jason had managed to trim about three weeks ago when they were down. It has been raining and so we weren't able to get to this stuff that had been piled up along the road by our house. I am sure the neighbors were glad to see us move it away. There was so much that it took two flat bed trailer loads piled high to remove it. We also had SMART to do that afternoon so we took a break from hauling stuff and did our thing reading with the kids over at the school.

Another quick trip into town on Tuesday as we had a doctor's appointment. We needed to get examined by the dermatologist for some skin problems. Dave with his never-ending dry skin and I had some kind of infection. I also wanted him to check out some other spots that I had while I was in there. I didn't know that I was going to have to "dress down" for all of this and was glad I was wearing some clean underwear! After he loaded us down with all kinds of prescriptions, we met our friend Stan Mushaw for lunch. He had just flown in from D.C. because his brother (and only living next of kin) had passed away and Stan is the executor of his estate. It was good to see him again. His wife Laura is joining him, but didn't fly into Portland in time for our lunch. We'll have to catch her next time. Our next destination was Builder's City in north Portland where we picked up a couple of cabinets for the storage room. I managed to find another support for a bird feeder while I was there, so the trip was a success! Next, we had to set up for a Blazer game that night. We decided that since the road into Portland looked pretty good coming in earlier that morning we would turn around and head back home after the game. It was around 8:00 AM when we left home and it was almost 1:00 AM before I got to bed and then I was up the next morning for my aerobics class. Looooong day. Boy, was I tired.

Painting I decided to tackle the painting of the cement in the garage. Since we're on a hill, this part of the basement is actually the foundation for the house. They really didn't care what it looked like when they poured it - it just had to hold up the house. So it turned out that it was not as easy as I thought it was going to be, mainly because there were a lot of air pockets on the surface of the cement wall and it was hard to get the paint to fill in these holes. I managed to get a majority of it painted in one day and finished the rest of it the next day. My arms were very sore because I am not used to that up and down motion. I still have a couple more coats to go too. After that is completed, Dave will frame in the walls of the room and install the shelving.

This weekend we are going up to Seattle to attend the NW Steam Society annual dinner. We will spend the night and stop by the IKEA Store to buy bunk beds for the storage room. Then we will drive immediately to Portland to engineer another Blazer game on Sunday.

It doesn't seem possible, but in about 6 weeks, the NBA season will be over! The past few seasons have really dragged by since the team was playing so bad. Now that they're doing better, it's more fun to watch and the season seems to be racing by! It doesn't really make any difference, we get paid the same whether they win or lose, but working is a lot more fun when they win!

GIVE ME A BREAK!!

I haven't ranted for a while, so here goes. We have a DHL truck deliver our vitamins every month to our house. Usually I can count on them around the first of the month. When we got back home this week, there were no pills. In the past, the driver was delivering them to the house up the hill from us, so I suspected that they were up there. Since the people that live up the hill are only weekenders they aren't there very much. Sure enough, the pills were up on their porch just like I expected. I called them and complained again about this and we will see if the driver can figure out where we live next month. It shouldn't be that hard, our house number is out by the driveway and the numbers go up as you drive up the hill. Besides, where he is delivering them is not even on the same street! But I can't blame him for that because the city hasn't bothered to put a street sign indicating that. Oh, the trials of living in a small town.
