IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

I do hope everyone had a very merry holiday. Ours turned out to be rather quiet. Since there were a few locals down here in Wheeler with no place to go, we decided to get together and have a potluck on Christmas. We held it at the local inn, as the person who owns it had to be open for customers. So about six of us "orphans" congregated at her place and had a wonderful time with food and drink. Afterwards, we played a domino game called "Mexican Train" which was a lot of fun. I have to add that game to my collection.

We had a change in plans for our family celebration as we were planning on doing our Christmas on Saturday the 23rd. As it turned out, one of our granddaughters caught the flu and since nobody wanted to come down with that, we postponed our celebration until the day after Christmas.

I have to tell you the funniest story about the mismatched Christmas hams. I bought a very nice but INEXPENSIVE spiral ham to take for our Christmas dinner and had left it in the refrigerator at Lara and Greg's since we were going to be there first and I didn't want to take it back and forth. Anyway, Greg's mother bought a very nice EXPENSIVE spiral ham and had placed it in the same refrigerator for their Christmas dinner. When I came to pick up the "ham" the day after Christmas, it was the wrong ham. She had served the inexpensive ham that I bought for our dinner and left the expensive ham by mistake! So we ended up with a very nice - and very expensive - ham for our dinner. I don't think we will mention it to her.

Jadyn & Jaysa We enjoyed our "day after" Christmas celebration together. I think I don't really care what Santa brings me. I enjoy watching the grandchildren open their gifts and the expression on their faces. That is more what Christmas is about to me.

We had a Blazer game on Wednesday night. Afterwards, we drove to Silverton to spend the night with Leslie and Jason as we were going to bring their girls, Ashtin and Paige back down to the coast with us for a few days. They have a Fifth Wheel RV, so we have all the comforts of home. The only problem, although Leslie had turned on the heat to make it warm for us, it was still freezing by the time we arrived. Apparently, the furnace didn't come on to heat it up. Dave fixed that, but it took most of the night to get the chill off the room. We were both so cold that we didn't sleep very well.

Ashtin & Paige The next day we returned to the coast with two girls in tow. They got a new portable DVD player that has screens that attach to the back of the front seats, so they were able to break in that new gift and we hardly heard a peep out of them all the way home. Now, I hope I can keep them entertained until Monday! I have several activities planned and there are lots of DVD's to watch. One of the things we are going to try to do is go whale watching. The whales from up north in Alaska are migrating down the Pacific to spend the winter in Mexico. Some of the prime viewing areas are right here in our backyard, so we'll give it a try. If they're too far off shore, they're kinda tough to see, so we will take along some binoculars and try to spot one! We will also go up to Seaside and the girls will go on a few carnival rides and of course we will stop at the Candyman Store on the way home. I am sure they will keep me on my toes while they are here. There's also a petting zoo at a local cheese factory about 25 miles the other way, and we can hit that the next day.

Well, by the time I write my next entry, it will be a new year and I want to wish everyone a healthy and happy 2007!
