IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Friday night Dave had to engineer a Blazer game and I didn't have to work so we drove in separately and I ran around trying to get too much done in as little time as possible. By the time I got home it was 9:30 and I was exhausted. Dave made it home around midnight. However, I was awakened by a telephone call around 2:00 a.m. from the Washington County Sheriff's office. The deputy wanted to talk to Dave. I immediately checked his side of the bed to make sure that he was home. How scary is that? Then I wondered what he had done and why the police wanted to talk to him. As it turned out, as Dave was coming home Friday night after the game, a pick-up truck going 90 miles an hour passed him. The driver was weaving in and out of traffic and tried passing the car in front of Dave on the left shoulder of the road. He hit the guardrail, which spun him around about 180 degrees. After recovering from that, the driver zoomed across the three lanes of oncoming cars and took the exit, running the red light! Dave called 911 to report the whole thing. He followed the guy off the exit but had to stop for the light so he lost him. He told 911 where they truck was headed and drove in that direction while he was talking to the dispatcher. He never did see the guy, but they sent a car to look for him anyway. So at 2 AM, the police called him back to tell him that they caught the guy and to thank him for helping. They also needed to get some more information about the damage to the truck (from hitting the guard rail). Apparently, the police followed Dave's directions and caught up with this guy parked on the grass at Nike World Headquarters. They arrested him for driving under the influence and reckless driving. He was lucky that he didn't kill someone! I accused Dave about chasing drunks all night.

birthday girls Paige with cake Last weekend it was birthday time! My two middle granddaughters have birthdays about a week apart, so we decided to have the family birthday party on Sunday since we were in Arizona when Jadyn turned three. Jadyn, whose birthday is actually on April 3rd, had a party on her birthday with all her little friends and Paige who turned four on April 9th had a separate party too. Paige got a new bicycle for her birthday and she feels pretty smart for a four-year old. So anyway, we all got together and celebrated again on Sunday at Red Robin. I know they probably don't want to share the spotlight on their birthdays, but we feel it's important to develop family ties and since they're less than a year apart in age, they will probably be buddies for a long time.

Mickey’s new bike Governor Ashtin Our six-year old granddaughter, Ashtin had a field trip to the Salem capital building this week. She looks like she is about ready to run the state the way she is sitting in the Governor's chair. Hum, elections are this year and it wouldn't surprise me if one day she doesn't run for Governor because she is so smart. She was telling me that she is 92% in her class in math. She is reading really well and just loves school. Am I proud of her or what?

Jan with Jaysa Jadyn dancing We stayed in town on Monday so I could baby-sit for Lara. We had a great time. Jadyn has an imaginary friend named "GiGi" who only she can see. This child has such an imagination that the "friend" really doesn't surprise me. One of her favorite television characters is Angelina Ballerina so she has begun mimicking her. She had to show me some of her moves. She is going to start taking ballet and tap dancing lessons next week. Her younger sister, Jaysa just turned 11 months and is standing by herself and is almost ready to walk. Both girls kept grandma quite busy all day long.

lawn mowing I finally got back to my water aerobics class this week. It sure felt good to start exercising again although I can feel it from being away for three weeks. In fact, I had so much energy from all that exercise that I decided to mow the lawn and wash the car when I got back home. It was a good thing because we had a downpour later that evening. This time of year it is so iffy with the weather and you have to do your yard work whenever you can.

GIVE ME A BREAK!

Since our government has stirred up a bee's nest once again about the illegal immigration issue, I must express my opinion. First let me explain that I know many Latinos who are here (illegal or not) who are trying to make a life for themselves and their families. That's fine with me as long as it has been done legally. I must admit that I have even hired a few to help me with my yard work. It's the ones that are parading around, carrying their Mexican flags and protesting equality that upset me. I would never think to go into their country and wave the American flag in their face as I think it shows disrespect. Plus the fact, that it appears that we are slowly being invaded. I am wondering what would happen if I wanted to head south by just walking across the border from the U.S. into Mexico and skipping all the legal stuff like visas, passports, immigration quotas and laws. I am sure they wouldn't handle those things the same way we do in America. And once I was there, I would want free medical care for my entire family, English-speaking government bureaucrats for all services that I might need, whether I use them or not. I would want all government forms to be printed in English. I would want my kids to be taught by English-speaking teachers and the schools would need to include classes on American culture and history. I would need a local Mexican driver's license, so I could get easy access to government services. I do not plan to have any car insurance and I won't make any effort to learn the local traffic laws. I will also want to fly the U.S. flag from my housetop, put flag decals on my car and have a gigantic celebration on July 4th. Furthermore, I would also like to have a nice job without paying any taxes and wouldn't honor any labor laws or tax laws either. Don't you think that turn around is fair play? Part of these issues were taken from an email that I received and I took the liberty to use them as part of my expressions too.
