IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!
Never again! I decided that I have thrown my last garage sale. It was a lot of work for the $215.00 that we made. Considering the highs and lows of a day spent sitting in my driveway all day, surrounded by my (and my departed mother-in-law's) castoffs and watching people paw through the stuff was too much. People are really funny as most of the stuff was priced so cheap, everywhere from ten cents to twenty dollars and they still wanted to barter. It got really interesting when we had a $1 bag sale the last hour. That is where you put as much of the stuff in a paper bag and pay $1. Things that people wouldn't ordinarily buy, they took when it was practically given to them!! I kept thinking that it was going to a good home, like an unwanted pet. We did manage to get rid of a lot of stuff but still ended up taking a car load down to the local charity place on Monday, so now all I need to do is go shopping, right?
You will never believe what I am doing now. Our deck rails are in need of a new paint job, so a couple of weeks ago I got some paint and promised myself that on the next sunny day, I would get started with that project. Wasn't I the same person who not more than 6 months ago after finishing our office, vowed NEVER to pick up a paintbrush again? Oh well. The sunny days had finally arrived and the deck rails really need it. Some of the rails have never been painted before and so there was this mishmash of unfinished and finished rails. I decided to do the easy stuff that I can reach first as the only problem is that most of the deck is 15 feet off the ground on a slope. It is going to be interesting to see how this goes. Wish me luck that I don't fall and break my neck!!
Today, Dave leaves for Portland to attend a lunch with a bunch of old radio buddies that he used to work with and then announce the drag races that evening. I will come into town on Saturday and do a little shopping and then babysit for my two granddaughters in Salem. Afterwards, I will drive up to where Dave is working at the racetrack and spend the night with him in our motorhome. It has been really hot in the valley so I hope things have cooled off a little by tomorrow.
