IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!
Happy holidays! I just turned the calendar over and here it is December all ready. Where has the year gone?
It's almost panic time for me and I guess I should start thinking about getting in the Christmas spirit. I will probably get the house decorated this coming week and get started on our annual Christmas letter. I went out and gathered evergreens from the yard and made a Yule log. Hey, give me a glue gun, a stapler and some firewood and I can have a ball! I have bought all my Christmas presents for the grandbabies, but there is still more to go. I also want to make some Christmas cookies this year.
We went to Aunt Louise's funeral service on Saturday. It was very nice and everyone had such wonderful memories to share. The service was full of people and it is no wonder, Louise had lived in the area most of her 90 years and had touched many lives. During the service, they played the song "Over the Rainbow" which I am sure was Louise's favorite and as we were heading for the reception at her daughter's home, we came around the bend in the road and there was this beautiful rainbow! I thought to myself, how symbolic and it assured me that Aunt Weezie (as she was affectionately called) was looking down on us. It is kind of scary to know that we are the "older" generation now and that most of the people in our lives, aunts, uncles and parents are all gone. It kind of gives us another look on life.
Saturday evening after we got back from White Salmon, we had our Thanksgiving dinner with the family. Because of Weezie's memorial, we couldn't have it at our place at the coast, so we had it at Lara and Greg's and instead of turkey, we had a ham. It was nice to be together just the same. The grandchildren have so much fun playing with their cousins. There's nothing happier than a grandma with a lap full of grandkids!!
After the game on Sunday, I came home. There was another game on Tuesday and while Dave had to stay and work, I didn't. I ran some errands and bought more Christmas presents and then headed home. I ran into freezing fog up on the summit of the coast range, so watched the road very carefully. It was so beautiful how the fog clung to the evergreens. I was glad to get home as I have come down with another cold/sinus infection and am not feeling well. I spend a very restless Monday night, coughing and sneezing. I took it easy most Tuesday and Wednesday.
Dave and I decided that we need to get into some kind of exercise program. He doesn't need to lose any weight, but I sure could shed a few pounds. During the nice weather, we could at least walk up to the post office every day to fetch our mail, but when it is rainy and nasty outside, it is hard to grab that coat and umbrella. So we are going to get a treadmill, preferably a used one with "embarrassing low" miles on it. We saw that phrase in the want ads while we were checking out used exercise equipment. "For Sale. Treadmill. Embarrassingly low miles." I loved it! Truth in advertising! Anyway, our goal is to get one of our own up and "running" by the New Year. I have also checked out the swimming pool over in Nehalem and they offer water aerobics in the mornings, so the first of the year I am going to enroll in that. Let's just hope I am still motivated.
Well, that's all the news in Wheeler town. I hope everyone has a nice week!
