IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

It just doesn't feel very festive this year. Since we were all alone on Thursday, the Kahrs took us under their turkey wing and invited us down for Thanksgiving dinner. It just doesn't feel right to not have your family around for the holiday, but Des and Donna are like family, so we joined them. We had a wonderful dinner of turkey and all the trimmings. I brought my traditional jello salad and I found the recipe for Lillian's famous pumpkin pie, so I made a pie to take along.

As I mentioned in my last entry, we were going to have our big dinner on Saturday when all of the family could be together, but as it turns out we are going to have to postpone our celebration because Dave's Aunt Louise (his Mom's twin sister) passed away from liver cancer and we will be attending her memorial service on Saturday morning in White Salmon instead. As I said, I am not in a very festive mood.

My sister Jeanne visited us from Phoenix last week. She came up to spend a couple of days with our Mom. The four of us visited and we got a group picture. Jeanne and I managed to hit the Mall one day while she was here and I bought some Christmas gifts for the grandchildren. So you can say the holiday shopping has begun for me.

We had another terrible wind and rain storm on Wednesday night. I thought the house was going to blow away with all of the banging going on outside. I got up the next morning to check for damage and we are all still in one piece, a few things out of place, but no damage. With the metal roof on the house, the noise from the storm is magnified. Still, with the calm after the storm on Thursday, I couldn't help myself and I spent three hours cleaning the place. I raked leaves, picked up branches and just generally got the place ready for the next storm!

I am slowly getting over my cold, but I managed to give it to Dave so he isn't feeling too good. My Mom also has viral pneumonia, which I probably exposed her to, so I feel like Typhoid Mary spreading my germs around.

I finished staining the last - and I mean the last - of the furniture downstairs in the office this week. Over the course of a couple of weeks, I did the entire desk (all 20 feet of it) inside and out, all of the wallbed, which has about an acre of wood on it and then the bookcase, which was only about a half-acre! I told Dave that if he even mentions staining another thing that he will have to do it. I am really tired of that project! I love painting and staining, but enough is enough! Now the fun starts, moving all of the books, files and miscellaneous office stuff in there.

GIVE ME A BREAK!!

I don't have anything to complain about this week, so - because it's Thanksgiving - I will list all of the things I am thankful for:
My family comes first (my wonderful husband, my daughters and sons-in-law and my beautiful grandchildren - they all bring me joy), my health, my friends (they are the best and are always there), my surroundings (the beautiful view from my front window, the birds and animals on this earth) and then all of the things that I take for granted and would miss if I didn't have them.
