IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

December is here and it's time to get this party started! I need to get the Christmas decorations out and the lights turned on the house! I have the cards and letters done so I can check that off. I still need to check out the local bazaars to get ideas for gifts and do a little shopping but most of the family will get money. That's always welcome and it always fits!

Collage We woke up to a little skiff of snow on the ground on Thursday and it is a little cold outside - the temperature hasn't climbed much out of the 30's. The photo at the top is of Neah-kah-nie Mountain and her sisters after the Thursday snow. The ones on the left and right were taken following a hailstorm on Wednesday. I filled the bird feeders and they are all happily feasting. I will spend most of my time indoors until the weather warms up (that may be spring). The snow doesn't last that long down here at the coast for which I am thankful.

We had to call the plumber to come in and unplug our sewer line for the fourth time this week. The guy who was here the first three times just couldn't fiind where the problem was. He would think he had it solved and as soon as he left, it would return. We finally got upset with the plumbing company when the toilet in the downstairs bathroom overflowed and I had a mess to clean up! It had even drained in the shower and sink! I couldn't run water, so the washing machine, shower and dishwasher were off limits. So, for the fourth repair, the boss came. The plumbers were here about mid-morning on Monday and finally discovered the clog in the line downstairs. There was toilet paper and other stuff clogged in the sewer pipe where it makes a tight corner. So, after that was cleared, everything works - finally! I sure hope they fixed the problem for good. I always worry because we have an old walnut tree next to the house and I'm afraid that it may wrap its roots around the line! What a nightmare that would be to fix!

Our little television set that we use while sitting at the kitchen table stopped working this week. I guess after 20 years it got tired. Anyway, we ordered a replacement as we like to watch the news while we eat.

Otherwise, life goes on. I remember last year about this time I was all crippled up from the knee replacement and Christmas decorating was the last thing on my mind. A week or so ago, I went to my knee surgeon for my one-year check up and all is well. I am still hesitant about getting down on my knees and the doctor told me that it takes a couple of years to get my confidence back. We will see. Dave is doing fine except the cancer has now metastasized into his pelvic area. He has his good days and bad and goes back to the oncologist in a couple of weeks. Hopefully she will be able to put him on another medication to help him.

Well, that's all the news our way. Happy Holidays!!
