IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Good news to write about.

Collage First of all, our oldest daughter and new son-in-law, Lara and Kevin, got married on Saturday. Congratulations to the new bride and groom who are currently honeymooning on the island of Kauai. It was a beautiful sunny day and the wedding ceremony was very nice and included all of Kevin's children and a grandchild plus all three of Lara's girls. Kevin comes from a big family and they all seemed to get along, even the ex's were there!

Fish On Monday, Dave got up early and met our son-in-law, Jason and one of his buddies and they went fishing on the Nehalem. Those big salmon are jumping all over the place. I guess they are trying to rid themselves of Sea Lice, so they jump! It's quite a sight with all those fish jumping. The only one that caught anything legal was Dave. They caught several others but couldn't keep them because of salmon preservation regulations. He came home with a nice Jack Chinook which we had for dinner that night. Most of the other fish were native Coho and couldn't be kept. While Jason's buddy was putting one of the fish back in the water, a big seal came along and snatched it right out of his hand! He was lucky the seal left his hand! The guys decided to try again on Wednesday as it was a free-for-all and everything was legal, even the native Coho. No luck though, I think the fish got the memo too! They only came home with a couple of crabs that day. Still, Dave reported that both days were enjoyable. They got to fight several Coho before landing them and tossing them back. Dave did get a photo of that seal eating a big salmon.

Paige We got a phone call from our granddaughter, Paige who plays soccer at Gonzaga. She was so excited to tell us that the coach pointed out that she had broken the school's record on the number of perfect passes that she has made this season. The object is to connect with a teammate to keep the ball moving without it being intercepted by the other team. The old record was 50%. The coach told the team that the highest he had ever seen was 75% and Paige is at 81% this season. I guess the coach has a computer program that focuses on one player during a game to get that sort of stat. She doesn't get to start the games yet, but when she does come in, she is a real spark for the team. It has been hard for her to sit on the bench as she was a starter in all her soccer games when she played in high school. But she has accepted bench-warming and considers it a challenge to come into the game later.

Witch Several years ago when we were in New England looking at the colorful leaves, we saw a Halloween decoration that we just loved. It's a witch who has been flying on her broomstick and flew straight into a phone pole. We've been thinking of that every Halloween and so Dave decided that this year, we would get our own witch. She is up on a nearby pole and we've already heard comments.

Dave has decided to throw his hat in the ring and run for city council again. He didn't like who was running, so he filed for election at the last minute. There are six people running for 3 four-term positions and some of the people are really radical. Last time he ran for re-election, he lost by 6 votes, so keep your fingers crossed that he makes it this time. He has been busy campaigning and plans to go door-to-door soon. Two years ago Leslie made him a bunch of yard signs and he still had most of them, so they have gone out again.

We have had such wonderful fall weather, so I have been busy outside. I got my garden put to bed for the winter and have been doing some last minute pruning. I planted some daffodil bulbs in pots because the ground squirrels tend to find and eat the ones I plant in the ground.

Well, I hope you are all fine and enjoying the fall weather.
