IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Welcome to the "ber" months - September, October, November and December! It sure is hard to believe that fall is just around the corner. We have been having fall-ish weather with cool evenings and sunny days. I just love this time of year when the colors of the season come to be.

Collage Dave finally had his birthday last Saturday! Lara came down for the Labor Day weekend (without her girls) to help her Dad celebrate his birthday. We hopped in the fishing boat and took him to Nehalem for fish and chips. The marine layer was rolling pretty fast as we went up river and it was hard to see sometimes, but we kept a lookout. When we returned from dinner, the fog had completely set in, but we knew where we were going and we pushed through it until it cleared just before we got home. Once there, we had Dave's favorite dessert - Lemon Pie and made him blow out the "80" candle on top! All in all, it was a very nice time.

Lara left on Sunday morning to go down to be with Kevin in Eugene. He is home on the weekends as he drives a truck during the week. Anyway, we met with some of our friends in Manzanita where the Little Apple Grocery always has a "free" picnic on Labor Day for whoever wants to come. They take donations for some of the local charities so it isn't really free, but at least we don't have to bring something.

I have been working out in the yard, pruning some of the deadheads and trying to get things in order for the coming months. My garden was a complete failure this year and the weather was to blame. I have been getting a few beans, cucumbers and tomatoes, but few beets and carrots. I am about to put the garden to bed for the winter.

Dave has decided to run again for Wheeler City Council. He didn't like the line-up of some of the other candidates who are running. Besides, most of the ones that were elected last time are from the same group, so it is time for a little mix. He still has the lawn signs Leslie made for him two years ago, so he will be putting those up later this month. He wants to campaign door-to-door and I am trying to interest him in using his golf cart. Anyway, there are six people running for three positions, so we will see how that goes.

Speaking of the golf cart, Dave has been keeping busy adding more things to it. His latest accessory is a back-up camera! He has so much stuff on it now, I am hoping it doesn't get overloaded! It doesn't go very fast as it is.

I went to the doctor on Thursday to check on my wrist. I have been trouble with it waking me up at night all tingly and numb. My regular doctor is on maternity leave and won't be back until the first of October. The replacement doctor thinks I have Carpel Tunnel Syndrome. It usually bothers me after I have spent some time pruning in the yard. So, I am wearing a wrist brace on it so see if that will help with the numbness. I made an appointment to go back to my regular doctor in November. I hope I don't have to have surgery on it!

Well, that's my news, take care everyone!
