IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

We have had a lot of activity going on around here this week.

Collage Dave had put in a request from the Veteran's Administration for a chairlift for our stairs. It took awhile, but it was approved and the installers arrived on Wednesday. Dave and I both have had trouble going up and down the stairs, with my knees and his shortness of breath, this stair lift has been just the solution. With the history behind these stairs (his mother falling and me breaking my ankle), this has put our minds at ease. It takes a while to make the trip, but it's so much better and safer for us.

Dave I don't know if I mentioned this before, but Dave now has a golf cart to drive up and down our hilly property to get down to the church and then back up the hill when he needs to. It seems there's always a tool that he needs in the wrong building, so he needs to make a lot of trips each day. Before the cart, he was good for about one round trip before he had to come in and rest. With the problems we have been having with our physical health, this makes us feel that we can stay in our home for a few more years, even though our daughters would be happier If we lived closer to them.

Dave's cousin, Dennis came down this week and helped get the engine on the steamboat running. So, as soon as the 4th of July is over (see below), the Captain Bell should be launched and into the bay for the summer.

Parade Speaking of the Independence Day, in the past we have trailered the steamboat in the Manzanita parade. But now, they have decided that "parade days" are over for Manzanita. With people staking out viewing spots two days early and the traffic congestion the parades create, it pretty much immobilized the place. Too much of a crowd for that small town. So, with no Manzanita parade, we have decided to enter the steamboat in the Rockaway Beach parade this year. It is a much shorter parade, but it should be fun just the same. We're hoping we can put the boat in the water right after the parade.

Lara, Kevin Good news to share! Our daughter, Lara is engaged to be married! She and Kevin have been going together for over a year and they seem to be very happy. I hope it works as Lara doesn't enjoy being by herself and the girls now have their own lives. This will be Lara's third time down the aisle and they say the third time is a charm. She seems happy though and if she is happy, that's what counts.

Our oldest granddaughter, Ashtin received her Master's degree in education and has already got a job teaching third grade in Florida. We are so proud of her. One of our other granddaughters, Jaysa who is seventeen, got a summer job working at a golf course, so she too has a busy summer ahead. Her sister, Jadyn didn't make it down to work on her van/camper this week. She had another commitment. So everyone seems to be pretty busy with their lives and growing up way too fast!

This awful weather is getting on my nerves. Really! Summer is almost here and we really haven't had much of a spring. Dave and I were thinking of someplace warm to go to, but with the cost of gas and airlines, we think we will wait awhile. My vegetable garden is slowly coming along but I have to protect it from the slugs and other critters. I have one tiny green tomato, so there is hope.

Box I have become a bee collector. I got this bait box to put on our property. It is a temporary home for the honey bees to move in. If and when they do, a beekeeper will then come by and pick up the bait box and after he has found the bees a good home, he returns the bait box to me to collect more bees. I'm excited about it and looking forward to seeing honey bees in the box!

I hope all the Dad's out there have a wonderful Father's Day! Take care!
