IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Well, March is here and it sure came in like a lion. We had a deluge of rain (3 inches in one day) and strong wind gusts (30 mph) during which we lost power for a short time, just long enough for Dave to hook up the generator and for me to have to reset all the clocks. But today it is sunny and bright (with clouds) but I will take that any day. It does feel like spring is just around the corner.

Marta, Gene, Us We drove into Portland on Tuesday as Dave had to get a hormone treatment for his prostate cancer. His cousin, Marta was celebrating a birthday that day, so while we were in town, we took her and her husband Gene out to lunch. They have moved back to Portland from the beach, so it wasn't out of the way for them to meet us.

I've been looking for a new refrigerator for the past year or so and have had no luck finding what I want. All of my appliances in the kitchen are white, and all the manufacturers are making is stainless steel and black. People (including my husband) have been telling me to just get what they have and call it good. Not me! I was determined to find what I wanted in white. Anyway, the place we had lunch is just down the road from Standard TV and Appliance and I hadn't tried them yet, so off we went once again. Besides, they were having a sale. Well, it turns out that they did have what I wanted in white, although it has a "textured" finish rather than smooth. I don't care. It's what I want, it's white and it's on sale! So, I ordered it, but it won't be here until sometime in June. That seems like a long time, but when the salesman first told me about it, it wasn't going to be here until November! I'll take June. My old refrigerator leaks water all over the floor, so we had to shut down the water line that connects to it. We miss not having ice cubes. The old one is a side-by-side and the freezer part is way too small. My new one will have French doors and a pull-out drawer feature in the freezer, so I don't have to take everything out to find what I am looking for. I'm going to be counting the days until it gets here!

I have been going to water aerobics three times a week and just doing stuff around the house. We are trying to clean out some of our files in the office and just get rid of so much accumulation. It's amazing how we can collect so much.

Dave has been busy working on all of his projects. A few weeks ago, he got the idea to make his man cave more interesting, so he bought an electric train! It will circle the area up near the ceiling, so he has been doing what he needs to do to build an elevated platform up there. He has it about half built but the other half includes tunnels through the walls. He can do whatever he wants in the cave - the important thing is that I have my dining room table back. Up until a week ago, the train was spread across the entire dining room table. Dave and a neighbor friend have also begun to build a model steamboat. After I got the dining room table back, he knew better than to ask to use it for this project, so they're working in a makeshift space in the boat barn. Every Sunday afternoon, they meet in there and get their heads together.

Our granddaughter, Jadyn drove down on Tuesday night because on Wednesday she and Dave had an appointment in Seaside to get tattoos. The idea for this particular tattoo has been on Dave's "Bucket List" for a long time. He has one tattoo he got when he was in the Navy a long time ago, so now he has two. Jadyn has a couple of tattoos already, so she was excited to see that her grandfather wanted the two of them to go together to get this one. I've learned to pick my battles, so I'm just sitting back and watching this one unfold!

No more news our way. I am looking forward to when we can take off our masks and get back to normal again.
