IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Happy fall y'all! After three solid days of rain, we finally had a day of sunshine yesterday. I have lots of outdoor things to do but haven't been home to do them. I'm hoping the rain will hold off today so I can get a start on them.

collage We drove over to Salem to catch up with Leslie and Jason so we could all go together to watch Paige play soccer. She plays for Gonzaga and the team was in town to play the University of Portland, so it was as close to Spokane as we are going probably to be. We've been able to watch most of her games on the computer because they have been streamed on the internet. We arrived plenty early before the game to beat the rush-hour traffic on I-5 north. We looked for a place to grab a bite to eat and ended up at this authentic-looking Mexican place in North Portland. We were a little apprehensive about the place but it was okay. We had to park in an alley behind the restaurant and were hoping that we didn't come back to our car with the tires stripped! The big-screen TV on the wall of the place didn't show the usual soccer game or baseball game. Instead, it showed security cameras around the place - including the parking lot where we parked the car! But the food was good and we got back in the car in one piece and headed over to the game. We wore our rain gear, expecting rain. But it turned out to be a beautiful evening, other than it was cold. We ended up wearing the rain gear, but only to try to stay warm! We got to watch Paige play in the first half when the score was 1-1, but she didn't play the second half. The score ended up being 3-2, Gonzaga. After the game, we visited with Paige for a few minutes before she was loaded on a bus along with her teammates for a night at a motel before they were flown back to Spokane in the morning. We spent the night with Leslie and Jason and headed back home ourselves the next morning.

We were scheduled for a flu shot in Nehalem yesterday and so we had that done. Dave has had his 2nd booster shot for Covid (3rd overall), but I haven't. I am waiting for FDA approval on the Moderna booster because that is the same vaccine I had and I don't feel comfortable mixing vaccines. Somehow, he was able to get his through the VA before we knew that the FDA had approved it.

I looked out the window the other day and over on the island there was a huge herd of elk grazing. There must have been about 30 in the herd. By the next morning, they had disappeared from the island. They like to leave when it is low tide as it is safer and they wouldn't be worried about getting stuck in the mud!

We are expecting Lara and maybe the girls this weekend for a visit. Maybe I will get some pumpkins and let them carve them up!

Nothing else new from here, hope all is well your way.
