IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!

I am writing this journal a few days early as we have to go to the VA Hospital for some more tests for Dave and since it will be a long day there, we are staying in a hotel and coming home on Friday. Let's see, what exciting things happened this week?

AJ, G-Dad

Jan, Austin

First of all, we have a couple of pictures of Dave and I taken at Ashtin and Austin's wedding, the one of Dave dancing with Ashtin and me being escorted down the aisle by Austin. Ashtin and Austin are now home in Florida and starting their new life together.

Last Sunday was quite a day. Dave appeared in the door with his hand wrapped up in a towel from cutting himself at the table saw. So I rushed him to the Urgent Care, where they put 18 stitches in his right thumb. This isn't the first time for that thumb; he had cut it several years ago. I warned him to be more careful or I was going to take his toys away from him. By the time the day was over, we had spent most of the time at Urgent Care and then we had to drive to Tillamook to Fred Meyer to get his prescriptions filled. However, after a few days, he is feeling a lot better.

Lara and her girls left on Monday evening for Costa Rica for ten days. They had to fly to New Jersey, wait a few hours and then change planes for San Jose, Costa Rica. They traveled all night and I am sure they spent the first day of their trip sleeping.

Diosmar

Also, this week, Luis and crew came by. They are working on a project for our neighbors and stopped to say hello. Luis has been really busy this summer. While they were here we asked a favor from him to climb up on the ladder and remove the Sparrow's abandoned nest upon the beam that over hangs over the deck. All the birds have left and we wanted to clean up their mess and put screening up over the beam so hopefully they won't come back.

Maple Bar

The nephew of a friend of ours brings giant Maple Bars to him whenever he comes down here from Eugene. Dave put in his order to bring us some the next time he came to the coast and they arrived this week. They are from a place called DayNight Donuts in Eugene and these things are huge! We split one at breakfast each day and there's hardly room for anything else!

I picked my first crop of green beans from my garden and we are also enjoying the lettuce that I had planted. I have a lot of tomatoes but they are still green and I have been getting strawberries from the small barrel that they are planted in.

Well, so goes another week in our lives. It is hard to believe that August is already here. Take care.
