IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

There has been a little more action around here to write about this week.

First of all, we had visitors at our house. That hasn't happened for a couple of years because of Covid. Dave's cousin, Marta and her husband Gene, came by Sunday for a nice visit. They have been living in Pacific City where they have a beach home, but have just bought a home in West Portland so they can be closer to Gene's mom.
Second Sunday

We also had Second Sunday Soup which is a first time since before the Covid too. We have eight couples now instead of six and we will meet quarterly instead of every month. Our friends Patricia and Marv hosted the first dinner and I will host the next event in October. It's always fun to get together and share different recipes. The host provides the main course,I brought appetizers, one couple brought fresh fruit and the other couple brought a beautiful dessert.

Swallows

I have been watching the little swallows who were hatched on the beam in the front of the house. They were fun to watch after they hatched as their mother flew back and forth feeding them. They will open their little beaks and chirp away. There were four of them so their mother was really busy. They finally flew the coop this week so we are going to get someone to climb up a ladder and take the nest down and then put netting around the beam so they can't make another nest there. It was such a mess cleaning up their droppings on the deck!

Dave had a funny but scary thing happened to him this week. He was hitching up his small green trailer and it sort of got away from him. Watch the video - which happened to be recording from the back of his Ford at the time.

Our renter has been gone all week attending a family reunion so it gave us a chance to go in and finish some of the little stuff that needed to be done on the inside. The stairs needed to have a clear coat on them, so our friend Ray sanded them down and I painted them. I also have to stain the newel post at the top of the stairs. There is a circuit in the kitchen that doesn't work so Dave still has to trace that. Otherwise everything is all done!

We had to make a trip into Portland on Tuesday as Dave's oncologist wanted to talk to us about putting him in an experimental clinical trial for his prostate cancer. Since his PSA level continues to escalate and his old medications aren't working any more, she wants to try to see if this will help him. We had Lara come along with us so she could understand the procedure and share it with her sister. After the meeting, we all went out to dinner. We didn't get back home until late that night.

Well, next week is the big wedding for our granddaughter, so we will be busy with that. I hope to have some pictures to show.

Take care!
