IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

I'm posting this a few hours early because I won't be home when I usually post it. More below.

I have been busy just working around the place, trying to catch up on some weeding and gardening between sunshine and showers. My garden is doing well; I have peas and lettuce (if the slugs don't eat them all). The slugs were getting so bad that I had to pull half my lettuce crop up. I had planted the lettuce in a whiskey barrel with a copper shield around the circumference. Well, the copper was so coated with dried slug slime and dirt that I had to remove it and buff it up with copper polish. We put it back on the barrel and it did help. Slugs don't like copper - apparently they get zapped by it.

Anyway, between Urgent Care and the Emergency this week, Dave and I are going to be okay. My feet and legs were so swollen from water retention that I couldn't get my shoes on. I finally got a prescription and they are now getting back to normal. Meanwhile, Dave stepped wrong while working on the deck and wrenched his knee. He can hardly walk. I ended up driving him to the ER. If he doesn't look happy in this photo it's because - after waiting over two hours and no doctor - he finally got fed up and walked out. That will show them! It wasn't like they were very busy either and he could hear a lot of laughing and carrying on in the back room. So Dave is hobbling around.

Thursday night, we are attending our granddaughter's high school graduation at Providence Park in Portland. Where has the time gone? Jadyn has now turned a page in her life and she is planning to attend Community College this fall. We are so proud of her and wish her all the best. As a side note, we're borrowing a wheelchair to get Dave into the location for the ceremony. It's a loooong walk from the nearest parking to the soccer field.

On Saturday, our oldest granddaughter, Ashtin will be graduating from Western Oregon University with her teaching degree. That is sure hard to believe. She has been accepted for her Master's in education and will continue on. What a joy she has been to us and we are proud of her accomplishments too. Her graduation is going to be a "drive-by" ceremony and so we won't get to attend it in person. They tell us it will be streamed live, so at least we'll get to watch it. That graduation is at the same time as a celebration for Jadyn, so we will attend one while watching the other!

Dave and Ray have been working on the deck on the front of the old church. It is looking pretty good but still there is more to go. The supplier hasn't been able to get the cedar decking so we're kind of stopped until we get the rest of it. The part that is built will get trimmed off and the two pieces closest to the camera are just temporary until we can get more decking. The price of lumber has skyrocketed and is so scarce, we will probably wait to complete the whole deck when the prices go down and when we can get more wood. So we will continue on until we run out of wood and the deck will be usable until then.

Well, that's what has been going on here. I hope all is well your way.
