IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Collage

We got back from our trip to Mt. Vernon, Washington getting Jason and Leslie's new boat last Friday afternoon. That's a long trip (5 hours) one-way and then another 2 hours from Salem to our place. We had a wonderful trip and the new boat is beautiful but boy were we tired and glad to be back home. I love road trips and getting away from home is great, but it is always nice to be back home and sleeping in our own bed.

It didn't take them long to get the new boat in the water. After getting home on Friday, they had it in the water Saturday morning. It's over on the coast in Newport where they will moor it for the summer. This boat is so nice; it has plenty of room to move around and the thing I like most about it is that it has a bathroom - or head. I don't care what you call it, it's going to be nice to be able to go out and not have to use a bucket.

Leslie must have had too much time on her hands because she posted a photo of Sterling in a "Captain's Hat". Too funny!

I got in a few hours working in the yard and tending to the watering of the garden this week. With this dry weather we have been having, it doesn't take long for things to get dried out. I pulled more weeds before they went to seed, but I still have a long way to go.

Happy Cinco de Mayo! We had tacos for dinner that night for the occasion. I usually try to come up with a menu item that is appropriate for holidays and other special occasions and tacos sounded good that night!

Our renter finally moved in and actually spent the night. She had guests at her parent's house over the weekend (when she was supposed to move in) and then had to clean-up the last place she rented, so it took a few days. I hope she is settled in and likes the place.

Dave has had to do a lot of video editing for various projects lately and has been VERY frustrated because the computer in the office just isn't up to the job. It freezes up and doesn't let him complete the job he was working on. It has taken him a week to try to do a job that should have taken him an hour or so, and it still isn't done. Bottom line? We bought a new, more powerful computer this week. He hasn't installed it yet, because I had this week's journal on the old one and we didn't want to take a chance of losing that before it is posted. So, if you're reading this, chances are Dave has begun the process of getting the new machine up and running before we need it for another project.

This weekend is Mother's Day, so we are planning on getting together with our family. We also have three birthdays to catch-up on, so it will be a big celebration. There's a lot going on during the months of May and June around here; we have birthdays, graduations and bridal showers to attend. Oh! And a wedding is coming up! Our oldest granddaughter will be getting married the end of July. Our calendar is full for the summer and the season hasn't even begun yet!

We still have a few things left to do in the apartment. We have to finish the stairs by putting a coat of clear sealer on them and re-stain the stair post and railings. The guys still have to add a deck to the front of the building and Dave is still working on the "man cave" which is actually downstairs under the apartment.

Well, happy Mother's Day to you all and I hope you have a very pleasant day.
