IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Jan and flag We are having some winter weather move in and boy, is it cold outside. The weatherman calls for freezing rain and high winds over the weekend. So, we have to batten down the hatches for another storm. Last week was also stormy; the wind blew so hard that the flag got hung up on the top of the flag pole and ripped it. Dave had a heck of a time trying to get it unwound and taken down so I could mend it and keep flying it until we buy a new one. We go through a lot of flags living at the coast.

Apartment floor Apartment floor We had to make a trip to Home Depot on Wednesday to exchange the wood we had purchased to put down on the floor at the top of the stairs and at the main entry in the apartment. What we had picked out was not meant to be flooring at all - it was too thin and not very durable. So, we decided to make the trip (one hour each way) and get it over with. Except, forget about that one hour trip. There was a big traffic jam up near Gearhart and it took us an hour and 45 minutes to make it to Home Depot. We decided right then that we would take a back road to get home. So we drove almost into Astoria and picked up the Lewis and Clark Highway south to Seaside and then rejoined 101 there. It's a 13-mile detour on a narrow 2-lane road, but it got us around the construction area that was causing the problem and saved us a lot of time on our return trip. Anyway, the new flooring is a lot nicer. Since the Cubans haven't been down very much (because of the weather and also because they have so many other projects going on), Dave talked with Luis about having our friend Ray (who is a wonderful carpenter) to help us with some of the finish work. Because Ray isn't very busy right now, he was happy to get a little extra work. Ray has put in the door at the bottom of the stairs and has about half of the flooring done. We are so lucky to have him available to help us.

Our new tenant came by the other day to sign the lease agreement. The lease where she is staying now isn't up until the 1st of May and so she won't be moving in until then. That will give us some breathing room to get the apartment completed before she moves in. We really like her and we think she will work out great.

Good news! We got our first dose of the COVID vaccine yesterday! We had to go to the Tillamook County Fairgrounds but since we had made an appointment, there wasn't much of a wait. It was really easy and I didn't feel a thing! We are signed up for our booster shot at the end of March. I'm so glad that worked out for us.

Well, that's the news our way. Staying home - safe and sound.
