IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you had a great day, even though apart from loved ones.

With all the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, it still felt like something was missing. I guess it was not being able to be with friends and family. That's what the holiday season means to me.

We had quite a few rainy and windy days this week. After everything calmed down, I went outside and picked up all the branches that had been broken off the trees by the wind (Mother Nature's way of pruning). Then, when the sun did finally return, the temperature dropped to near freezing and then it was too cold to be outside! Finches We had a bazillion little yellow finches arrive during the stormy weather. The feeder was covered and the ground crawling with them! They were here for a couple of days and then they just disappeared! We enjoyed them while they were here: it was quite a sight to see.

We are going to sneak down to Salem and have a little family time with our family today. We stayed home for Thanksgiving and we decided to be with them on Christmas. There will only be 11 of us and I will be sure to keep my distance and wear my mask!

Collage Luis and his crew spent some time here this last week and they were able to finally finish up the plumbing on the apartment project. They were able to get the sewage pump operational and then the vents through the roof were the last things to be installed. Once that was done, we were finally ready to call for the first inspection. Dave spent hours getting things all ready for the inspector so that he would be comfortable during what we thought would be a lengthy inspection. The inspector arrived Monday morning and by the time Dave went down below to meet and talk with him, he was already signing the paperwork. All that preparation and he hardly looked at the work. Just a quick glance around and he signed it off and was out of here. What a relief! Now we have to get everything operational. We have to wait until we get the flooring in before we can set the toilet and finish the shower. The flooring tile is here and the carpeting should follow before New Year's. Once that is done, we call again for a final inspection and assuming we pass that one as easily as we did this one, we're done with that part of the project. So there is progress!

Meanwhile, Dave has been busy getting the electrical figured out on the apartment/church. It has been frustrating for him at times; trying to figure out why something he knows is done correctly isn't working. We did get a few more things for the apartment. We went to the Habitat for Humanity Re-store and found a couple of interior doors and two bar stools for the eating bar. They have a lot of used building supplies at Habitat and it's fun to find something that we need. The doors and stools would have cost us several hundred dollars new and we spent less than $30.00 for all of it!!

Well, that's is a wrap for this year. 2020 can't end soon enough for me. I'll see you on the first day of 2021. Here's hoping for a healthy and happy New Year!!
