IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Sorry this is late. My webmaster had a tough day yesterday and fell asleep thinking he had successfully posted this. Uh-uh...didn't happen. So, here it is - late - but it's still Friday, so I guess it's really not late, is it?

Let's see now, what has been happening around here?

Angel Irena Luis' crew came down and did some work for most of the week. They helped our neighbor carve out a path around his house and get it ready for some paving. They pressured washed the deck for us and worked on the church project. We are having them "sister" the upper beams that hold the second floor in place to reinforce them so that it will be more stable. Ka-ching! More trips to the lumber yard!

Jan, Patricia I had a work party on Monday and Wednesday this week. We finished with the flower beds at City Hall. We then moved up to Upper Park to clean out the flower beds there and remove some low hanging limbs from some trees. Then we started in on the Rinehart Park (which is a small pocket park). That little park really needed some help. The ivy had grown clear out in the parking area and needed to be cut back to the curb. The last wind storm we had, severed a large branch from a tree so it needed to be repaired. We still have a little more to do before we start back in Waterfront Park and do some fall pruning before the weather gets the better of us. Then I think we will be done for the year until next spring anyway. I am still recruiting volunteers to help us.

Meanwhile, I have been trying to get a little yard work at home before it gets too cold. My vegetable garden has been put to bed for the winter, I pruned back by Day Lilies. I had Greg come down and prune the Forsythia, it was getting too high and bushy and crowding everything else out. My eye surgery is in a couple to weeks and I don't want to worry about doing all that afterwards.

Signs Dave has been gearing up for his re-election campaign for the City Council seat that he has held for over 13 years. He has some competition this time so he has had Leslie make him some campaign signs to put out and also has been meeting and greeting people on Friday mornings at the park. He's very uncomfortable with door to door campaigning, so he's hoping the once a week meet and greet and the signs will be enough.

That's all the news this time. I hope you are enjoying the fall weather, it is one of my favorite seasons.
