IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Damaged House

Not a lot happening this week. We have been hunkered down from all the rain and wind that we have been getting. We had a couple of small tornados drop down on Manzanita but not much damage - broken windows and no one was hurt. I didn't even know that it happened until I got a call from my daughter wondering if we were alright. I had driven into Tillamook that morning and had to pull over on the road as it was hailing so bad I couldn't see to drive. It was probably a part of what became the tornado that hit further north.

Dave put the flags out in the city on Monday in honor of MLK day. A bunch of volunteers do that on almost every holiday, but this time no one else showed up, so Dave was all by himself! He did send out an SOS to see if he could get a few people to help him take them down later that day and a few did show up. In this small community, it takes a lot of volunteers to do things for the city as they only have a 3-person crew that works for the city.

I did manage to get up to the Upper Park and plant some spring bulbs that were given to us from 7-Dees Nursery. They gave us a whole box of various bulbs and so we have been madly planting them as the weather permits. There are a lot of tulip bulbs which we don't dare plant at Upper Park where the deer will wander through, as that is one of their favorite snacks. While I was planting the bulbs I managed to pull a muscle or hamstring in my lower leg, so that has slowed me down this week. It has been very painful and I have been alternating heat pad and cold packs trying treat it.

Pachinko

Our neighbors had a tree fall down on their shed and part of their house during one of our earlier storms. Jim asked if Dave wanted to have some of the wood and other things that were stored in the shed. That was like turning a kid loose in a candy store! He came home with all kinds of stuff (mainly junk) but one of the "treasures" he found was a Pachinko machine. If you don't know what that is, it is a Japanese version of a pin-ball machine. Anyway it didn't work (of course) so Dave has taken it all apart and is in the process of repairing and restoring it. Another project to keep him out of trouble.

We had Luis and his crew arrive on Wednesday. They are going to repair the damage that the tree did to the neighbor's house. They are also going to fix the roof on the church where it has started leaking in one corner. They have the material, but we told Luis to wait on the repair until this stormy weather passes. We had them over for dinner and I made a pumpkin pie for dessert because that is Luis' favorite. It is so rainy and windy outside that I feel sorry for them working in this stormy weather.

Since there is nothing new other than reading my books and watching the impeachment proceedings on television, I will close. Have a great week and hope that spring comes soon.
