IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

One last week before Labor Day and the start of school begins, my granddaughters have had a great summer going to camp and camping out with the dad and mom. They keep saying, "Where has the summer gone?" and I don't think they are ready for school yet. Our oldest granddaughter, Ashtin will be a Junior at Western Oregon University this fall, her sister, Paige will be a Senior in high school, her cousins, Jadyn will be a Junior, Jaysa will be a Freshman in High School and their younger sister, Jordyn will be in middle school. They are all getting grown up and are so busy with their lives, we hardly have time to get together anymore.

Collage Seagulls Saturday was the Grand Opening for the Graceful Waves Chiropractic Center here in Wheeler that Dr. Dawn Sea Kahrs had built. She had a slide show showing the stages of the building (which took over a year). It is a beautiful building with the calmness and serenity overlooking the Nehalem Bay. It was exciting for her to reach her goal. There was a nice crowd that came including a flock of seagulls perched on the pilings right outside the building.

Pelicans Dave went out fishing with Jason last week, once on the Columbia and the other in Nehalem Bay. They didn't catch anything either time. While they were out in the Columbia, a flock of Brown Pelicans were keeping their eyes open for their catch. Leslie came down last Friday night and spent the weekend getting reacquainted with Jason who had stayed at our place all week. They went out fishing again on Saturday and Sunday. Jason was determined that he was going to catch a Chinook Salmon and he finally caught a nice 25 pounder. The next prize will be Tuna and it is Tuna season right now. He loves to fish!!

Collage Meanwhile, back at the ranch, I have been painting and painting. I got all the railings painted for the sky bridge to the church. If that wasn't enough, I decided to paint our bedroom. I have done the ceiling and will start on the walls next week. I will be ordering new drapes too. I am exciting to freshen up this room if only to sleep in it! Ray also got the door hung on the back of the church that leads to the sky bridge and Dave got the wiring completed in there so he will have outside lights.

We welcomed the rain this week. I have been watering my plants everyday and it was nice to have a break this week. Now, the rain is behind us and it looks like great weather for the weekend. We are getting tomatoes from the garden and I picked the last of the green beans. All that is left are carrots, beets and squash.

We also had a run into Portland so Dave could get his semi-annual shot to keep his PSA levels down. Although the PSA level is now "undetectable", he still is taking medication and getting shots to keep it that way. While we were in town, we dropped by to give Lara a collection of two large garbage bags of bottles and cans that she cashes in for expenses that come up. We made a dash into Home Depot and then headed back home. We don't like to stay in the city any longer than we have too.
