IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Collage

Toot! Toot! We went to the Northwest Steam Society's annual steam meet in Sequim, Washington over the weekend. We invited Leslie and Jason to go along with us so Jason could help with the driving. It's a six hour trip one way and I am sure if it was just Dave and I driving, it would have taken much longer! Anyway, it was fun having the kids along and I think they enjoyed going even if the average age at the meet was 65-75 years. We ended up pulling the Captain Bell with us, although it wasn't sea-worthy to be launched. Dave just docked it in the parking lot and answered questions from curious on-lookers.

We had some rain on Saturday morning, but it didn't dampen our spirits. Since no one was going out for rides, we decided to go into Sequim and do a little shopping. We came home with new rain gear, sweatshirts and shoes. Leslie found a cute souvenir t-shirt too! The afternoon the clouds went away so we were given rides on a couple of steamboats and an old steam car. Saturday evening we had our meeting and feasted on pulled pork, beef brisket and chicken. Since the weather wasn't promising on Sunday, most everyone packed up and left for home around 2:00, so we did too. We got back to our place about 7:30.

On Monday, their doctor who was fishing in the Columbia River, invited Leslie and Jason to go fishing with him. They came back with three salmon, Leslie got her limit of two and Jason got one. Then Leslie left for home as she had to go to work the next day. Jason stayed all week with us and went fishing with the doctor until Wednesday. Jason took Dave out in the ocean out of Astoria on Thursday, but their luck ran out. They came home empty-handed with tales of people catching fish all around them, but they didn't get a nibble.

Ray

Ray has been working this week on our "sky bridge" while Dave has been working on putting a light switch by the new door in the back. Things are coming along and it should be completed by next week.

We took another load of yard debris to the transfer station. We had thought we were done, but Dave and Ray had cut down a Holly tree and it needed to go. Meanwhile, I have been doing a little pruning and weeding myself and it won't be long before we have another trailer load. We can dump the debris for free up until the first of October.

Well, that's what has been happening around here. Gee, all the granddaughters will be back to school soon and it's hard to believe that fall is just around the corner.
