IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Collage

We have just been busy working on the ramp from the back window of the church to the edge of the hill by the side of the boat barn all week. Ray got the cement for the slab poured and the two Sonotube concrete forms for the beams. With the help of Luis and a buddy of his, they managed to get the heavy beams in place (they made it look easy), so it's beginning to look like a ramp. The construction of this thing is something else, but once it is done, it will be much easier for Dave to get back and forth to and from the church.

We had to take time out for a Cardiologist appointment on Monday in Hillsboro. This doctor was new to us so we had to explain Dave's past to him. He was very understanding and told us a lot more about Dave's heart than the last doctor we had. Half the time, we didn't even know why we were even going in to see a doctor! Anyway, all is good and he wants to get an MRI and then have Dave see him again in about a year.

The ride back was interesting, there were so many cars coming back from the coast for a Monday that is was crazy. At one place we were driving and the car ahead of us suddenly stopped in the middle of the road (he wanted to make a U-turn)! We about had a rear-ender. Then we were at a place on Highway 26 where our side has a passing lane, so Dave was passing a slower car and some guy in the on-coming traffic decided to venture over the line and just about hit us head-on! Luckily, Dave swerved to miss him and the guy that we were passing swerved because we swerved! It could have been ugly if we weren't paying attention! We were so glad to get home from all that crazy driving.

My garden is growing as we have had a couple of pickings of green beans, plus I have been giving some away to friends and neighbors. The squash has taken over everything and looks like I will have a good crop of them too. I have been busy keeping everything watered and weeded.

My son-in-law and some of his buddies dropped by the other evening after they had been fishing out on the Columbia River. Jason was the only one who got a Chinook and he came by and gave some to us. What a treat, fresh salmon! He has been doing a lot of fishing this season and really enjoys going out in his boat.

We have been getting ready for our trip to Sequim, Washington to attend the NWSS steam meet. We leave this morning and Leslie and Jason are coming along as our guests and to help us with the driving. It's about a five hour drive up there. Although Dave has been furiously working on getting the steamboat ready, it still isn't running, but he wants to take it anyway. He was really disappointed that he hadn't had the time to get it running like he wanted it to. Maybe someone at the meet can take a look and offer him some advice.

So that is all that has been happening our way. It's hard to believe that summer is almost gone.
