IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

You can sure tell it's Spring Break as everyone has headed for the coast! Traffic has really picked up this week. We had a few days of sunshine, but for the most part it has been overcast with light showers.

Dave

Bryce & Vanessa

We had a great weekend. Lara and her girls came down Sunday and attended the final performance of the play that Dave was in, "Four Weddings and an Elvis". Leslie and her family arrived as well and spent the night. So Lara, Leslie and I - along with three of our granddaughters - took in the play. We had friends coming as well, and I had to try to save an entire row near the front of the theater until everyone else arrived. I had to keep telling people that those seats were taken and for a while there I was not a very popular person! Everyone finally arrived and we all sat together. The play was a big success, everyone in town has been talking about it ever since. Dave was in Act II of the play which featured a washed up actor and actress trying to make a come-back by getting married as a publicity stunt. The funniest part was when Dave (Bryce Cannon) and Linda (Vanessa Wells) removed their costumes so that they wouldn't get wrinkled when they sit down. Dave dropped his pants and revealed a sexy pair of heart printed underwear! The audience laughed and laughed! Anyway, the whole play was hilarious and they all did a really good job.

Crab Melt

Lara had to go back home after the play as she had to work the next day, but Leslie and her family stayed the night and went crabbing. The weather was a little rainy but they have an enclosed cabin with heat on their boat, so they were very comfortable. There weren't very many people out there so they had the whole bay to themselves. The best part was they caught 11 crabs!! After hauling their boat back onto the trailer, they too headed for home, but only after they gave us a couple of crabs to enjoy. So we have been eating crab on English muffins with melted cheese and crab in our macaroni and cheese.

Jason & friend

Yesterday, we received word that our son-in-law Jason went on a fishing trip down on the Nestucca River - south of us about 50 miles. We never did hear a final count, but at one point the boat he was in had caught at least five Steelhead. That is so great and Steelhead is one of my favorite fish! Even though he now has his own boat, Jason wanted to go out on a guide boat to see how the pros do it. Besides, his boat is too big to go on a little Steelhead stream like the Nestucca. We're glad he had such a successful trip because there may be more Steelhead in our future if he continues to be successful!

Park

Wednesday was such a fine day, that the Park Committee got together and had a work party. We always try to schedule one on Wednesday of each week but for some reason it seems like it's always raining that day! It can be beautiful on Tuesday and it will be stormy and nasty on Wednesday! Then, as often as not, it will be beautiful again on Thursday! Because of that, it is so rare this time of year to catch a good day. Anyway we pulled weeds and cleaned up the Waterfront Park which had been neglected for quite a while because of the inclement weather.

Hilhi

We made a trip into Hillsboro on Thursday for the monthly reunion luncheon of my high school class. There were some new faces this time and we enjoyed our visit very much. There are usually about a dozen or so that attend every month, but we had more than that this time, so the restaurant had to add a couple more tables.

April will be here next week; my how the month of March came and left in a hurry. I am enjoying the flowers and birds in the yard and noticed three Elk cows out on the island this week. It's about calving time and that's where they go to give birth as it is safe there.

Everyone have a happy week.
