IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Now, let's see what is happening around here.

Jadyn

We drove into West Linn on Friday so we could see Jadyn perform at the half time of the West Linn football game. She is on the dance team and is loving it! The girls did a fabulous job dancing and since West Linn was ahead, we left in the third quarter. That football team is really good and they don't lose many games.

Jordyn

Goal!

Saturday we got up early to take Jordyn to her soccer game. Her sister, Jaysa was also playing, but her game was in Vancouver and was being played at the same time. So, Mom took Jaysa to her game and the grandparents took Jordyn to hers. Jordyn scored one goal (which her grandfather actually managed to get a picture of) and assisted in another but it was tied by the end of the game. She is having a lot of fun playing and has really stepped up her game since the last time we saw her play.

Peanut

After the game, we came back to the condo and Dave finished with the floor, door and corner molding in Jordyn's room. He made sure she helped so that could say she was involved in building the wall in her room. After that was completed, we headed for home as we had another engagement down at the coast.

That engagement was our "Second Sunday Soup" gathering in Manzanita with three other couples. This time, we had it on Saturday as the hostess was tied up on Sunday. Anyway, instead of "soup" we had barbecued shrimp. I made the dessert which was strawberry shortcake. The next get-together will be at our place in November and I think I will go back to soup.

53

Dave and I celebrated our 53rd anniversary on Tuesday. We stole an idea from some friends and drove up the road to find a sign on Highway 53 so we could get a picture. Highway 53 = 53rd anniversary, get it? After we got home, we spent the next two days cleaning out Dave's workshop so he could find his tools again. He has a habit of not putting things away when he finishes a project and so his workbenches (and the floor) were piled high! I didn't know where a lot of things went, so I spent a lot of time asking questions, like what is this and where does this go? I also vacuumed and swept up all the sawdust. The place looked pretty good when we were finished and he promised to keep it looking that way - at least for a while. Dinner

For dinner on our anniversary, we had reservations in Astoria at the Bridgeport Bistro. They were really busy and we had to wait for our food because they were so crowded. We thought that was strange for a Tuesday night. There was a cruise ship in port and we thought it might be crowded because of that, but the ship pulled out while we were eating, so I guess that wasn't the reason! The restaurant had a live piano player so that gave us a nice atmosphere while looking out over the Columbia River and bridge. It was a nice way to celebrate our 53rd.

It has been raining off and on most of the week. I am not complaining as we really do need the rain and it gives me a break from having to water. The dampness has brought out the slugs and so I have been busy getting rid of them. I hate slugs!!

I think I mentioned that Dave was going to be in a play in November. He and the rest of the cast have been rehearsing a couple of times a week, but they were told this week that it has been postponed because they have not been able to find enough men to play those parts. He's not throwing his script away because it looks like they will try again in April. We'll see.

And happy anniversary to our daughter and son-in-law, Leslie and Jason who celebrated their 21st anniversary yesterday!

That's about it for this week. With the change in the weather, it is about time to start getting ready for the fall with cooler nights. We did manage to get all of our debris collected and taken over to Cart'm as they have free yard debris disposal until the end of September.
