IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Not only is it my favorite day, it is also "Friday the 13th"! I hope no one is superstitious out there.

Paving

Finished

We got our street paved on Monday as there was a window of sunshine for the workers to lay the asphalt. I got to see a snippet of the work being done through my living room window, but haven't had the opportunity to check out the completed project because it has been raining every day this week! All the neighbors had to park their cars on the street next to ours all day until the pavement was set.

With all of that going on, Dave had to drive into Tillamook to see the doctor the same day they paved the road. He has had an ingrown toenail that kept growing back and bothering him, so he decided to have the doctor fix it for good. He came home with this huge bandage on his toe and was told to soak it in Epsom Salt for two weeks and apply this medicine that the foot doctor prescribed which is actually for ears (go figure). So between Dave and I, we are a couple of cripples around here!

Jan

Speaking of me, I did break down and get some new glasses. Or, rather I got new lenses for my frames. I have been having a terrible time spending any time reading or watching TV or anything else that requires being able to see clearly. So, I finally listened to Dave and made an appointment to get my eyes checked last month. However, I wasn't able to get the new prescription to the optician right away because of that little episode with my ankle. I finally got that done last week and this week, I went in to Seaside to get the new lenses mounted in my old frames. Guess what? I can see again! Dave made me pose for a picture in my new "glasses" even though the only thing that is new is the lens.

I am still wheelchair-bound and wearing my "moon boot". On the 12th of April, it was one month since I broke my ankle. I can't walk on it yet and will be so happy when I can get around much easier. I go back to see the doctor the first of May (hopefully he will clear me to walk then) and I am counting the days, believe me! A friend gave me some jigsaw puzzles to do but one of them has 1,000 pieces and it is very difficult and I get very discouraged trying to do it. I work at it, but not much is getting done.
Then there is the computer, which I really believe hates me! Every time I use it, the thing does some crazy thing which makes me frustrated. I scream and yell at it and then ask Dave for help and with a flick of his fingers it is fixed! He makes it look so easy but that computer knows when I go to use it!

Dual Monitors

Dave has been getting real creative with the office computer downstairs. A friend of his had an extra monitor that he didn't want, so Dave is using it as a second monitor. That way he can have two files opened at the same time to do some of his work. He's pretty proud that he was able to get that set up by himself and that it actually works! I have only seen a picture because I can't get down there to the office to check it out for myself. Soon though!

Mickey

Congratulations to our second granddaughter, Paige! She turned 16 on April 9th and got her driver's license! Now she can take herself to school and to the other activities that she is involved in. She is happy and her parents are happy too because they don't have to drive her around anymore. I remember when our girls first got their licenses and what a relief it was when we no longer had to take them to all of their activities. Watch out Salem, here she comes!!

Sunny

Sunny

I do have to mention my fourth granddaughter, Jaysa. She finished up her gymnastics season with flying colors. It has been great for her to participate in this event as it has brought out some talent that she didn't know she had and she has learned that she can develop her skills by working hard and practicing. I'm so proud of my Jaysa for sticking with it and showing us what she can really do!

Bush

That's about all there is. I bought some fuschia and geranium starts and there they sit. I wanted to get some plants while there was still a selection and while they were on sale and now I can't get them potted! Maybe I can ask one of my garden buddies if they can help me do that.

Even though it is Spring it sure doesn't feel like it and it is hard to get in the mood when it has been raining and windy. The last storm we had blew over the Honeysuckle bush that is now blocking the pathway! I know, I know; it's April and all I have to do is be patient and the weather will improve. But believe me, patience isn't one of my virtues right now. I really am beginning to go a little "stir crazy" because I can't get out unless it's to go somewhere like the doctor's office. And that really doesn't count for going anywhere because I'm still in the wheelchair. I need to get out and feel the dirt between my fingers! Three more weeks!!
