IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

A lot of things happening this week.

second sunday

We started a Second Sunday Soup gathering this last Sunday. There are three couples that try to meet once a month for dinner or Hors d'oeuvres and wine. So we decided to try a soup gathering and the hosts could invite another couple to join us. We had it at our place this time and I fixed corn and sausage chowder and invited our friends, Des and Donna Kahrs to join us. Mark and Donna had recent birthdays, so Patricia baked a cake and they did the candle thing. We had a great time and everyone enjoyed themselves.

Monday morning we woke up with no power. The night before was terrible with high winds and torrential rain, so it didn't surprise me. Dave got the generator going and after the most important thing was done - making coffee - we had a light breakfast. The power came back on around 8:00 a.m. and after resetting all the clocks in the house, the power went off again at 3:30. Since Dave already had the generator going, I fired up the grill and we had toasted cheese sandwiches by candle light for dinner. Luckily, the power was back on at 7:00 p.m., just in time for me to watch my favorite show, Jeopardy and then see the Blazer game.

We had to make a trip into town for Dave's doctor appointment on Tuesday. We had made arrangements to stop by to meet my great nephew Benjamin, who was born in September. It had been a while since I had held a baby and my arms were not used to the weight, he weighs about 10 pounds. What a delightful baby and so content. After our visit and doctor's appointment, we made a stop at Home Depot to pick up a couple of things for the bathroom project.

Speaking of the bathroom project, it is coming along - slowly, but surely. Ray finished the rough sheet rocking and has the shower pan installed. Tile will be the next step but we are waiting for a "niche" to build into the tile shower for our shampoo and soap. Hopefully, that will come today because we've done everything else and we're stopped until that gets here..

Oh, another thing that went wrong this week. My built-in vacuum cleaner stopped working. I was vacuuming and shut it off for a minute. When I tried to start again, it wouldn't run. Dave checked all the usual suspects and couldn't find anything wrong, so he called the company. It was decided that after 20-odd years, the motor gave up and died. So Dave tore the unit apart and ordered a new motor. Hopefully, that will solve the problem.

”Jan”

On last thing, I was deadheading some mums with my pruning shears and pruned my finger! I couldn't get my finger to stop bleeding, so Dave took me to Urgent Care and the doctor glued the wound closed. I am trying to type with this metal protector on my finger which is kind of hard to do! Anyway, I have to wear this protector on my finger for a few days until it heals.

Oh, and one more thing that is nearly unbelievable! Dave has been going to my water aerobics class with me each morning and also working out on the treadmill in the evening. And what brought on this sudden change, you ask? Well, after visiting his oncologist's office this week and getting on the scales, he was shocked to see how much weight he has gained. I have been harping at him to go with me to aerobics each morning, but would he listen to me? Noooo! It took the reading on the scale and the doctor's advice to finally convince him that making sawdust in his shop wasn't going to cut it. So, after all these years, he joined me in the pool Wednesday morning. He wasn't crazy about doing it, but knows he has to do something so - at least for now - this is it. The class is easy exercise and I enjoy it. Hopefully, he will stick with it and learn to enjoy it too.

Well, that was my week. Can you believe that Thanksgiving is next Thursday?
