IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

bathroom

It's been hectic around here with all this remodeling going on. I will sure be glad when it is all over. For one thing, after clearing out the bathroom, I forgot where I put most of the things, so I am always looking for something I need. I have also had to do my showering down in the basement in our other bathroom. I finished painting and Dave and Ray got the mirror back up and the medicine cabinet on the wall. The bathtub came out yesterday and they will begin putting in the shower today. I have friends coming over on Sunday evening for soup and salad and I am hoping that they don't mind the dust. The picture shows the part we have finished - the new wall color with the mirror re-installed and the lights back in place. Well, almost in place. They still have to be draped from hooks, but that will probably happen later today. The image reflected in the mirror is where the tub was and where they will begin work on the new tiled shower today. The bare wall under the new window will be finished when the shower is done.

rainbow

Speaking of Ray, he took this picture of our place earlier this week. If you look carefully, you'll see the rainbow is directly above our old church building. Beautiful, but we've been through that old building a lot of times and we're pretty sure there is no pot-'o gold in there! Ray is not only a good carpenter, he's also a pretty fair photographer.

Dave

I have to tell you something that happened that was funny. Dave was showing a guy our church and a huge rat went scurrying across the floor. Dave remarked that it was big enough to saddle! Anyway, he put some D-Con out in hopes of killing it. A few days later, I was looking out the kitchen window at the rock garden and I saw this black thing laying there that looked just like a dead rat, even the cat was curious and was checking it out. So I yelled at Dave to go take a look and get a picture. He goes out in the yard and the "dead rat" turned out to be a "black rock". All I could say was "April Fool". The rat probably took the D-Con away and was saving it for a snack later!

I went to see the Reader's Theater production of Alfred Hitchcock's vintage radio on Sunday afternoon. It was well done and since it was supposed to be old-time radio, they had sound effects. The only part I didn't like was that it was way too long (2 1/2 hours). Dave looked real dapper in his vintage suit and fedora. There will be two more weekends and then he will be done.

Other than that, there hasn't been a lot happening. One unusual thing: Dave got a surprise phone call from one of his old Navy buddies earlier this week. The guy had been looking all over the internet for Dave for quite a while with no luck and so he tried entering my name in a search online. He came up with a phone number for me and decided he'd try it. They had a nice long conversation and promised to keep in touch.

And speaking of veterans, I do want to wish all you veterans out there, a happy Veteran's Day and thank you for your service.
