IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Sisters

We spent the weekend in town as there was a lot happening. On Saturday morning, we left for my sister Judy's place in Milwaukie. My other sister. Jeanne was flying into town from Phoenix and was planning on stopping by for a short visit. It was quite a surprise for Judy as she wasn't expecting it. We had a nice visit with them before they had to leave for Springfield to attend a reunion and Bob had to do a dedication on Sunday in McMinnville. They flew back to Phoenix before they left to go back to England on Tuesday. Their trip to Phoenix was for the occasion of their granddaughter's graduation from high school. We had dinner plans with the Blazer Broadcasting group. They always have an appreciation for all the help during the past Blazer season. There were about 8 people who attended. Dave does a minor part for the Blazers but they still include him and so it is nice that he is appreciated.

Sunday we attended the dance recital in Canby of our granddaughter, Jadyn. This is a long drawn out affair but I enjoy seeing all the kids perform, especially my granddaughter because it means a lot to her. She has been performing for 10 years now and really enjoys it.
We left the recital at intermission after seeing Jadyn perform a couple of her routines. The whole recital lasts all afternoon and we had a two hour drive back home. We missed her final routines and the awards ceremony afterward. She received a 10 year award and a "great actress" award. Boy, they hit the nail on the head with that last one! We took the Canby Ferry across the Willamette and drove down to Salem where we stopped for a burger and called our other daughter, Leslie. She and Jason met us there at the burger place along with Ashtin and her boyfriend, Austin. After a quick visit we were on the road home again and finally arrived around 6:30.

We had to make another trip into Portland on Tuesday as Dave had a doctor's appointment with his prostate oncologist. His PSA has inched up a bit and he was concerned about that. The doctor assured him that was normal at this point in his treatment and so now he will return in another 3 months for another blood test. He also had to get a CT scan on his groin as his other oncologist wanted to check on the lymph glands to make sure that they weren't causing his swollen leg problem. That test turned out fine, so they still don't know what is causing his legs to swell so badly.

Dave had to make a run into Tillamook on Wednesday because he had to get the front wheel fixed on his tractor. It was rusted so bad that the tire wouldn't hold air any more. The Kubota is ancient and they don't make wheels for that model anymore. So the tractor place is going to modify the existing wheel to make it work. The one time when we really need to use the tractor to complete our gravel project next door too. Hopefully the wheel should be ready by Saturday.

Cubans

I have been busy doing the last minute things to the house next door. I emptied and cleaned out the refrigerator and put everything left in the kitchen in boxes. The realtor was by on Wednesday and gave us a market analysis and we made plans for putting a "for sale" sign up by this time next week.

Dave's nephews, Dean and Luke arrived on Thursday and they went through the things left in the garage. After a couple of trips to Cart'm there really isn't anything left. Dean had to get back up to Washington, so it was a quick trip for him.

We had the Cubans back here again on Thursday - this time to help us take the yard debris to the burn pile and help Dave with a couple of things he wanted done. He needed help spreading some three-inch rocks over a soft spot in the driveway and lifting the outboard motor into the boat that we sold to Dave's cousin, Dennis. We were going to deliver the boat after Memorial Day, but with the house sale timing, we decided to make that trip some other time. Yesterday, I took the day and cleaned our house and washed the windows. It sure feels clean around here. Today, I will tackle the weeds that have been growing in my yard and plant the rest of my garden.

Not much going on over the Memorial Day weekend. The weather is supposed to be warm so we expect a lot of traffic at the coast. That is a good reason to just stay home.
