IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!! Dinner

We drove into Portland Easter afternoon and had a great ham dinner that Lara had made. We gorged ourselves and then headed back to the Coast as we had a busy week ahead of us. The traffic was terrible on the way home but luckily, everyone was going the opposite direction.

Eggs

Speaking of Easter, our friend Dawn and her son Taylor came over Monday evening with a basket full of home-dyed Easter eggs. They let us pick a couple out of the batch but they were way too pretty to eat. Dawn had made the dye herself using onion skins and other ingredients and then put ferns and leaves on the eggs before she immersed them in water. It was a lot of work but they sure turned out beautiful.

Dave had a root canal on Tuesday so I went with him to the dentist just in case he didn't feel like driving all the way back home afterwards. While he was having that done, I headed to Freddies to pick up a few things for the weekend and finished in time to meet him back at the dentist. It was a good thing I went along, as he didn't feel like driving back himself.

We had the frame on the man door on Leanna's garage replaced like we had ours done a few weeks ago. So I got busy and painted the molding around the new door and our carpenter friend Ray fitted it in place. It really turned out nice.

We got the carpeting ordered for the inside of Leanna's house and my girls will come down and help me paint the middle of May before the carpet is scheduled to be put in. We have a lot of things to do on the house and we hope to have it on the market by Memorial Day Weekend.

Dave has been busy working on his shop. He has removed an old kitchen cabinet that had served as a workbench and is in the process of building new ones in that space. He has two segments of one work area done, with about five more segments to go along one wall. Then there are two more walls! He has had trouble sleeping lately, so he gets up and has been out in the shop before dawn all this week. This project a long way from complete but it is moving along - especially on the days when he gets the early start.

Leanna's son, Dean and family came down on Thursday to help Leanna move. She will be moving to Forest Grove to a retirement home. Lara is coming down later tonight to help also. Mainly, Lara is going to be the monitor for Leanna as she has a lot of stuff and will have to part with some of it because she won't have as much room. Leanna is having a hard time deciding - as any of us would - what to keep and what not to keep.

I was able to get some yard work done this week between showers. I am scrubbing the deck and I can only do a little at a time. I think by the time summer is over, I should have the deck looking pretty good!
