IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

My goodness, I am so glad this week is over because it was crazy!

First of all, Dave woke up on Sunday morning with this huge and very painful rash on his back. We drove up to the emergency room in Tillamook and he was diagnosed with Shingles. So needless to say, he has been in a lot of pain from this awful stuff, taking meds and rubbing ointment on his rash. The only thing that I can say is that I am glad that I have had my shingles shot because this stuff is contagious and very, very painful.

We made another run into Tillamook on Monday as I had a doctor's appointment and Dave had made an appointment to get the oil changed on the Ford. I had changed doctors because my previous one wasn't taking Medicare patients anymore. I found this new doctor who is a woman and seems really nice and she is young so hopefully she will be around for awhile. I hate changing doctors.

Tuesday was a wild weather day with lots of rain, thunder and lightning. March sure came in like a lion, that's for sure. We had thunder so strong that it shook the house! The lightning caused damage to several houses down here when it hit their electrical boxes and propane lines! Our poor feral cat was taking cover somewhere out in the storm but he showed up the next morning hungry and a little worse for wear.

Our friend Ray and Dave have been doing the repairs on Leanna's place. She had some water damage from her water heater and from rain coming through the backdoor. Ray pulled up the vinyl and it wasn't even glued down! The flooring was made from chipboard and that had rotted away the first time it got wet. All in all, the manufactured home was built poorly and so the subflooring has to be replaced, along with the water heater, back door and vinyl. We will also put a storm door on the door to keep the rain from coming in. Hopefully that should make it better.

Meanwhile, our project of replacing one of the large windows in our house is moving forward. At least the window has been ordered and then it will be installed. The framing around all of the large windows need to be replaced because of rain and insect damage too.

We spotted the local herd of elk on the far side of the island grazing on the fresh spring grass this week. At the moment, the sun is shining as I write this but we are expecting another storm over the weekend so we will keep the hatches battened down. We have no pictures to share this week.
