IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

It's good to be home for a while. We have been on the go for the past couple of weeks. After helping Leslie and Jason move to their new home in Salem, we came home on Friday but then turned around and headed back into Portland on Sunday.

Leslie and Jason's new place is really nice and it is a lot bigger than their old place in Silverton. The house is located on a cul-de-sac and doesn't have much of a yard (that was the idea) but the inside is larger with three bedrooms and three bathrooms. With all the running around that they do, they just couldn't keep the 2-acres they had in Silverton maintained. After leaving their old place spotless, we had to turn around and clean the new house. The carpets were dirty and the kitchen and bathrooms needed cleaning. So before any of the furniture could be moved in, we spruced the place up a little bit.

hitch

We hauled our flatbed trailer with our tractor back home as Jay had used it during the summer and it needed to be moved before the new owners took possession. Dave had noticed quite a bit of sway with the tow but thought it was the strong winds that we were having. On the way, I wanted to stop in Tillamook at the furniture store and after we finished with that stop, Dave was inspecting the trailer before we continued the trip home. However, he discovered that the trailer hitch had broken. It had rusted through and was only hanging on by a sliver of metal! Here he had driven it all the way from Salem to Tillamook with it like that. We thought for awhile - wondering if we could make it home in that condition and decided that we would park it somewhere. So we pulled away from the furniture store with our fingers crossed and just around the corner was a welding shop - and they were still open! How lucky was that? Anyway Dave stopped there and they agreed to get a new hitch welded on. Dave picked up the trailer last night and the new hitch looks great! The guys in the shop called him "Lucky" because they said they had reached out and snapped the hitch off with one hand when they began the repair. We were so lucky that nothing serious happened along the way because we would have been stranded without a way to unhitch the trailer from our car.

Skyline

Sunday we headed back into Portland. It was Dave's Mother's birthday and we wanted to stop by the cemetery. Lillian would have been 101 years old and we know that if it wasn't for her accident, she would still be going strong. She always acted younger than she was. She was such a great person and I couldn't have been blessed with a better mother-in-law. We still miss her very much.

Jordyn

We headed over to West Linn after our cemetery stop as I had a date with Jordyn for her birthday celebration. She turned 8 on February 1st. I can't believe that my youngest granddaughter is 8 already! The first thing we did was head to Justice to go shopping. She had her list and wanted a new swimming suit and so we found one with a matching cover-up. She also got some new black leggings, a cute top which said, "Lights, Camera, Fashion" on it and a purse and necklace. She really scored at Justice. Then it was off to Red Robin for her birthday lunch. She had a birthday party sleepover the night before so she was really dragging by the time we got back home.

Jan, Kay, Terri

We had time before my doctor appointments on Monday to go visit with our favorite "shirttail relatives" - Kay and Terri. They always have the coffee pot on and since it was awhile since our last visit, it was great seeing them and getting caught up.

I saw the urologist first to have my bladder checked. Last time I was in he had removed a small tumor and he wanted a three-month follow up to see how I was doing. I got the okay and everything is fine. Don't have to see him for another six months. Then it was off to the dentist to get a tooth filled. The last time I was in for a cleaning, the dentist found a cavity. So after that and with a numb mouth, we headed back over to Red Robin for still another celebration for Jordyn's birthday. This time it was with the whole family.

On Tuesday, it was Dave's turn for his doctor appointment. He had a CT scan up at OHSU, labs and then an appointment with his oncologist. This was a follow up on his lymphoma cancer and this report was good too. As Dave says, it's always nice to have a happy oncologist! We are sure trying to stay healthy.

Tuesday night, Jadyn (our dancing 12 year old) was performing at the Moda Center during halftime at the Blazer game. We had gotten tickets to this and got there early so that we could see everyone that Dave and I used to work with. We had a great time and Jadyn was on the big screen a lot because our buddies - the cameramen - were aware that she was our granddaughter. I did have one complaint. We were sitting in a great section at the game and on the beginning of the row. It seemed like half the people in that row were getting up to get something to eat or drink and so we would have to squeeze over to let them go by. No sooner did we get to sit down then the next person had to get up. We spent half the game standing up or sitting down! We got our exercise that night, believe me.

We finally made it back home on Wednesday and we plan on being here for awhile (I hope). We love spending time with our family, but like I said, it's good to be home again. We are going to go into Tillamook to take in a play tonight. They're doing Neil Simon's "Rumors" - "Described as a farce (a comic dramatic work using buffoonery and horseplay, including ludicrously improbable situations, sometimes referred to as 'slapstick comedy'), Rumors takes you on a comedic ride from the start". Sounds like fun - I'll let you know.
