IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

After returning from my trip to Florida, I am slowly getting back to the right time zone and adjusting to the cooler weather. It takes me a while and waking up each day at 4:00 a.m. and trying to stay awake until after 9:00 p.m. has been a struggle.

Lights

Christmas is fast approaching now that Thanksgiving is over. Dave flipped the Christmas lights on (he doesn't take them down as it is too hard of a job to get up on a ladder and string them each year). We also got our holiday letter written and printed. I just have to find time to sign them all and get them in the mailbox. I have received two cards already. I can always count on getting them from two of my cousins who mail their cards out right after Thanksgiving. I guess I am not that organized. Getting the Christmas letter written in the first week of December is about all I can handle. I still have to get the Christmas decorations down from the attic and get the inside of the house looking all festive. Let's see if I have enough energy to start with that little project today.

Speaking of lights, the little town of Wheeler is getting all festive for the season. The train station is glowing with colorful lights and at our weekly work party on Wednesday, we got together and placed lights on the tree in front of City Hall. The PUD truck helped get the pole ornaments up and so we are all ready to begin the celebration.

Davis

We had some visitors drop by this week; my nephew Brian and his wife Tonya stopped by last Sunday. It was a beautiful weekend and they came to the coast to climb Neah-Kah-Nie Mountain (that's it on the right side of the photos). After their hike, they came by for a lunch of turkey soup. They're a fun couple and it is always nice to visit with them.

Tom

We also had our good steamboat friend Tom Kane stop in. He had journeyed down south to the Bay Area and was on his way back home to Bainbridge Island. He stayed for dinner and then spent the night. It was great to see him and we had a nice visit. He took us to breakfast in Manzanita before he left.

Speaking of steamboats, and since the weather has been getting colder (close to freezing this week), we thought it was time to finish getting our boat winterized. We put up the boat curtains and then turned a space heater on low inside the boat to keep it from freezing. Dave had already drained all the water from the pipes to make sure they didn't freeze and break. The curtains and heat are just to make sure it stays warm and toasty.

On Tuesday, I had a dentist appointment in Hillsboro, so Dave and I made a trip into the valley. While I was in the dentist chair, we went down the street and went shopping at Harbor Freight. I also needed to do a little shopping while I was in town, so it was after dark before we got home. It is always good to get back home safely when it is dark and rainy outside.
