IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Davis

Peerman

Such a busy week, with visitors dropping by and family spending the night so they could try to escape the heat from the valley. We had a house full last Saturday night. My nephew Brian and his wife Tonya (and dog Pippi) spent the night along with my daughter Lara and her family. We BBQ'd burgers and had a great time. Lara and her family have been here for the whole week so the house has been busy. They spend a lot of time down at the beach so that gives us a breather. We also had my cousins, Jackie, Joanie and Cliff drop in on Sunday. They drove down for the day and were looking for a place to stay. Unfortunately, the beds were all taken and so we couldn't accommodate them.

We had to go into Portland on Tuesday. Dave had an early morning bone density test and an appointment with this oncologist. We also picked up all our tickets for our trip and got some "funny" money (Euros and Pounds) from the bank to take with us. We'll be on the plane to Amsterdam in just a week and a half. Our last stop before we headed home was to stop by the nursing home and pick up Dave's sister Leanna. She finally got to come home after being either in the hospital or nursing home for a well over a month! She is doing much better and will have a nurse and physical therapist drop by and see her for a few weeks. She was glad to finally be home after all this time.

Boat Wash

The girls helped us clean the steamboat to get it ready for the 4th of July parade in Manzanita on Wednesday. I polished all the brass so now she is presentable. The boat wasn't that dirty as we hadn't taken it out of the boat barn since last 4th of July, but the salt air had really tarnished the brass so it turned out to be a bigger job of polishing than usual. But it all came out bright and shiny. Note to self, this year after the parade, take time to polish the brass before storing the boat away. By Thursday, Dave had all the plumbing put back together and steamed her up to make sure we are going to be able to toot the whistle on Saturday.

Jaysa

We had a little accident while the granddaughters were here. Jaysa was being pushed on the swing by her younger sister Jordyn and she swung her a little crooked and she had a collision with her other sister, Jadyn. Jaysa came away with a broken toe so she has crutches and a boot on her foot! What a way to spend the holidays!!

Jan & Greg

Thursday morning, Greg and I celebrated our birthdays. The Deweys left in the afternoon to spend the night at a motel in Manzanita for his birthday. It is right on the beach and it has a swimming pool. It's usually hard to get the girls out of the pool, but Jaysa's foot was bothering her, so Lara brought her back to Wheeler where they were able to borrow kayaks from Des and Donna and the two of them explored the river and bay while the rest of them swam in Manzanita. Jan, Dave

That evening, Dave took me out to one of our favorite restaurants, the Terra Cotta Cafe in Manzanita for my birthday. I have had many wishes from everyone for my birthday and it always makes me feel special. We will continue celebrating when Leslie and her family join us tonight. Everyone will be here for our traditional 4th of July family reunion and ride on the steamboat in the parade.

The weather has been hot and even at the coast we have been having 80 degree days and warm nights. I have been busy watering my plants and vegetables during this hot spell.

A couple of weeks ago, the June 19th entry didn't get added to the calendar correctly. If you have been dying to know what I did that week - that has been fixed.

Happy Independence Day everyone and have a great holiday with your friends and family.
